They were on the Rotterdam this past March.

:)

Had them on the Maasdam this past May. They are smaller than they used to be. And there isn't as much dark chocolate in them from when I had them on other cruises.

HAL's chocolate croissants are fabulous. There is always a tray of them in Lido ...even for early bird breakfast. Neptune Lounge always has them.

I agree with KK that they are smaller but I found them to be just as dense with chocolate. I don't really like a TON of chocolate in them....just enough to enjoy the bitter sweetness.

They are good enough they rate being on my list of the few treats I give myself permission to enjoy when on an HAL ship. Something I would never eat at home. I am very fussy about alotting what items "make it to my treat list". :)

You can order them from Room Service and you can write them in on the breakfast menu hang tag. Be sure to order more than one as they are small....

Don't forget to bring some zip lock bags, too. Great for stowing a sandwich if you have an afternoon tour. The ship does not have zip locks and the the chefs at the Deli Sandwich Bar do not have anything else to wrap your sandwiches in.

Oh, yes. The chocolate croissants were there in all their glory on the Rotterdam when I disembarked five weeks ago.

At least, I think I left some there. :o

There were chocolate croissants on the Noordam in April, but even better (IMHO) were the chocolate chip "cookies". The excursion staff didn't even know about these! They came out at precisely 2:00 p.m. and were gone by ohhh about 2:03 p.m.!! LOL

The "cookie" was made by baking a chocolate chip cookie batter as a single piece in a cookie sheet, then cutting them into about 2.5" squares, and finally dipping them into warm chocolate. Needless to say, you didn't need any coffee after that!!!

Enjoy!!

On the Prinsendam we had the chocolate croissants every morning with coffee from room service while getting dressed. All you have to do is write in "Chocolate Croissants x _" indicating how many you would like. I know there's not a lot of space to write it in, but the people working on the room service menus are quite accustomed to special requests. One afternoon after returning from a shore excursion we ordered sandwiches and I asked if it was possible to have an order of "your wonderful bread pudding". I was told that it was likely not, as it was only available on the Lido Deck. :( 15 minutes later when our order showed up, there it was under a special thermal container with the sauce on the side. Yummmmmmmmm. Isn't room service grand?

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

I am with you Jean, I think either you love them or don't care for them. I, personally, didn't care for them, but others in my group thought they were the best. I like the plain ones with some butter and jam, oooohhh I can taste them now!!!!!

I agree, Doone, the 'plain" croissants are delicious also!!!

I do love the chocolate ones but in a pinch I'd be very, very happy with only the 'plain' ones.

O.K., jean and doone. If we're ever on the same ship at the same time I'll do you a favor. You scrape the chocolate out of your croissants and give it to me! I'll get rid of it for you.
Gee, I'm so thoughtful. :)

I Love them both - but calorie wise - (yes I am over weight - husband is not) - _ can't have both every day. And then just one or the other once in awhile.

:DSure. Like the croissant chocolate will last that long.
Right.

(For those who don't know: I want my coffin lined in chocolate, and my headstone shaped like a Hershey Kiss.)
