On one of our cruises we had quite a few children on board. Noticed that many of them were ordering hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers and french fries most nights.

Mac n' cheese, pissgetti, nuggets and burgers are typical fare on the children's menu.

I'd like to keep my daughter from getting the children's menu at all. She will probably find new and interesting things to eat but not if the waiters start by assuming she'd prefer the children's menu.
Is it a separate sheet we can ask them not to bring? Or is it printed along with the regular menu on the same pages?

It is a separate menu and you certainly can ask youR steward not bring it to your daughter. What a wonderful opportunity for her to try new foods. If she orders something she doesn't care for, I am sure the steward will not let her go hungry. :)
Have a GREAT cruise and make wome wonderful memories!

:D Like WC Fields, I only enjoy the "Kids" menu if the Chef truly knows how to prepare them properly.:)

Like sail said - it is a separate menu. Some of the ones I have seen also have a drawing on the back that can be colored in. This in not on all ships.
There are so many items to choose from and to have your daughter try them is a great - especially on a cruise where it isn't going to cost you extra for those dishes like in a restaurant. And if she tries something and doesn't like it, the waitstaff will be more than happy to get something else to eat. A cruise is a great place for a child to try many new dishes.
Just tell your waiter on the first evening that you do not wish to have the children's menu placed in front of your daughter.

Love it!!
On our recent Ryndam cruise, they had Mac N' Cheese offered both as an appetizer and as a main dish.

I can personally vouch for the fingers 'n fries. I didn't care for the fish sticks, but I'm not fond of those anyway.
So, we've now learned that adults can order from the "children's" menu, too. :D

I will have to keep that in mind that I can order from the children's menu.

Does anyone have a copy of the kid's menu? I'd like to show it to my son...He loves tacos and I think they have a taco bar on the Zaandam...is tacos a option on the kids menu? Just wondering

HAL has a taco bar on every ship. It is usually open lunchtime until 5:00 P.M. and your son probably will enjoy making his own tacos there.
