Hi folks, isn't technology wonderful - just spoke with Ruth and they are both fine. Apparently they need a new roof, but other than that and the clean up required, they are both fine. Jim was out at work when I called, but Ruth sounded cheery - said the cats and the slippers are all intact! :) Looks like our prayers haven't gone unheard once again.

We are saddened by the loss of life caused by Hurricane Charley, and our prayers go out to all those families. Continued thoughts go to the people along the east coast as Charley continues his journey. Here in the frozen tundra there's not much chance of a hurricane ever hitting this far north ... anytime anybody wants to get away from one, come on up - there's a spare bedroom for you!

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

Ger_77-

Thanks for the great news on Jim and Ruth!! Sorry to hear about their roof, but good to know that they, their kitties and their slipper collection is intact!

There has been an urgent plea from the Red Cross for donations to their disaster relief fund. One can go to www.redcross.org (http://www.redcross.org) and make a donation. They accept all sorts of plastic including AMEX and it took us about 5 minutes to do. I realize our contribution is minimal but multiply that my 100 others and it may actually help!!

Thanks for telling us about Ruth & Jim. When I reported this morning, I mentioned that Jim had to be at work at &AM and that Ruth doesn't like the computer.

If all they lost was a roof - that's minor compared to lives.

And we keep hearing on the news about more deaths.

We know what it is like to lose a roof in a storm. We had a macroburst go through here 2 years ago and lost part of our roof. Since it wasn't a tornado insurance wouldn't cover it.

Thanks for posting that Ruth and Jim are safe.

Also....Thank you very much for mentioning the Red Cross site. What an easy, convenient, fast way to help folks who need help so very badly.

Good wishes to everyone who has suffered from Charley.

He is headed up the Coast and now forecasters are saying we will have a tropical storm from Charley in Boston. They originally thought the winds would have died down more and it would just have been heavy rain.

I have two nieces in the USNavy stationed in Norfolk and talked to one of them this afternoon. They are having terrific storms but she hadn`t heard of much damage as yet. These two young ladies just returned from the Middle East, one of then 3 days ago. My prayers are for all of you friends in the path of these two horrid storms, stay safe. There are two more storms out there in the Atlantic following pretty much the same path, hope they do an about face and go somewhere else!.....jean

Last year we had a few hurricanes. It seems that this year we are making up for the few storms of last year. Tropical depressions four and five are following a similar path to Bonnie annd Charley. Let us hope their paths diverge upon entering the Caribbean and they both don't strike Florida. We need a break.

What a scare ! I am happy to hear that they fared well during the storm and have no serious problems. What a frightening experience.

Thank you for calling and checking on us today. After I read your post I asked Ruth if anyone had called and then she remembered. "Oh, Yes, Someone from Canada called. Who do we know in Canada???"

She was having one of those Blonde moments......

Was going outside you clean up a few thinks but I noticed it is dark outside I cannot go out now. Boy I sure have bad (GOOD) timing. If it doesn't get done today it will get done tomorrow......
