Sail, I was just going through some mail and saw the most fabulous cruise next year on "your" Maasdam! Had to mention it even though I'm sure you know all about it. It's round-trip from Boston (can't get more perfect:) ) on 7/16/05 for 35 days!!! ... or you can do a one way either way. Goes to all sorts of amazing places, like Greenland, Iceland, Norway, England and France. My heart skipped 10 beats!!
How about that!!!??? Can you go?

That cruise sounds so perfect for you S7S's, how can you pass it up and especially on your most special ship. You should really treat yourself and book the penthouse!!!!

Thank you for thinking of me, Heather. I did read that itinerary and would have loved that cruise once upon a time. I believe that LizB is booked on it.
DH is not retired and could not possibly take 35 days from his office. To do only half wasn't nearly as appealing. :)
We've been to Europe many, many times and have had incredible times there but at the moment I am not eager to return. Europe is not high on my list of places I wish to visit in this day and age. We'll be sticking closer to home for a while.
Doone...Thanks for the suggestion re: the Penthouse. I shiver to think how costly that must be for 35 days.

We are also doing that wonderful cruise but only half of it. As we will be spending time in New York and Boston before the cruise I feel that we would be missing from home too long. We may do a short Rhine cruise at the end. It is a great adventure going that way to Europe and seeing such wonderful sights.

:) Hey HeatherInFlorida
I mentioned this about a month ago (got flamed for it - not by sail7seas).
We were so hoping that sail7seas DH could have managed to take off 35 days so that she could sail on "Her Ship".

That's crummy, KK. Why would someone flame you for suggesting a cruise it would perfectly reasonable to think I would love.
"MY" Maasdam; sailing from Boston!!! Of course anyone who knows anything about me would assume I would leap at it.

Sail7seas - whether it's crummy or not - it happened.
But I just smiled and burned off a few more calories.

KK, why were you flamed for it? What did they say? I can't believe that. Actually I can't believe I still sometimes say "I can't believe":) . At this point I should believe almost anything.
Just for fun, I checked the price. This was an offering from a "club" we get in the mail and it was 2nd person up to 88% off:D . So the "Penthouse suite" is "only" $79,614 for 2. Hehehehehe. You don't know how funny that is for me.
But an "A" is about $17,000 for 2 which for 35 days is not all that bad. However, that said .... just a wee bit more than we can afford. DH is still working, too, so not an option.
I agree with all that you said, Sail7, and feel the same way, but I sure couldn't help but think of you when I saw it.
For those of you taking it, it looks like an unbelievably wonderful experience.

Perfect, KK.......:D ;)

Heather......Can you imagine....$79,000!!!
I wonder how much it would cost for our usual "S" ? I also am curious how the prices on the offer you received compare to what HAL is showing on their site. That could be fun to compare.
Of course, $17,000 is alot of money but to have an "A"...two people....35 days....I think that is a very good price for all that you would be getting for that price.
The more we talk about this cruise, the more appealing it is sounding. :)

I know ... can you imagine that price for the Penthouse!!! ???
Your "S" suite would be $30,684. They break it down this way: 1st person $27,042, 2nd person $3,642. So I'm guessing that the "brochure" rate is $27,000. The port charges are included, but you have to add the fees & taxes (each I assume) of $290.
This particular offer includes a bunch of complimentary shoreside events such as a tour in Reykjavik, Iceland and another in Dublin plus a "host" from this "club". Understand this is not a real "club". It's affiliated with Amex and a travel agency I constantly get mailings from. I would tell you the name, but I know that's a "no-no".
But look at it this way, Sail, NO AIRFARE!!!!:D :D

Like you, I started a a thread addressed to sail7seas concerning this cruise since I knew that she has sailed many, many times on the Maasdam and knew that this particular cruise began and ended in Boston.
We had just gotten a flyer in the mail and this cruise was mentioned. I was so excited that I quickly logged on and started a thread addressed to her. I didn't take the time to go through a bunch of other threads where this particular cruise had been mentioned.
Within a few posts I was flamed. The poster said that this cruise had been mentioned in another post.
SO NOW I HAVE TO TAKE TIME AND READ ALL POSTS BEFORE I CAN RESPOND??? NO WAY!!!
:D :D
Smiled and just burned off a few calories - didn't even bother to answer that poster.

KK, I agree with you! I had the same reaction as you did. The minute I saw it I literally ran back to my computer and started the thread. The last thing I was thinking was ... "hmmmmm....let me see if possibly someone else has mentioned this cruise". Truth is I read this board every single day and consider myself pretty abreast of the threads. So if I'd seen something on it, that's where I would have gone.
Besides, do you know how many different threads there have been on Cabanas on Half Moon Cay??? Hehehehe.
Love to know who it was but better we not go there, huh;) ?

There are some very sour folks around. They do not often have a nice thing to say to most anyone.
Why waste energy with someone who never offers a smile or does/says something to bring a smile to someone else's face?
I feel for folks who are always trying to put someone else down....or to have a nasty comment.
I like your position, KK.......smile and burn a few calories. (That would shorten our daily walk by a few footsteps. Anything that chalks up some steps toward 2 miles a day. :) )

All I know is that I very much appreciate that both of you were so thoughtful to think of me and be sure I was aware of that cruise. That was a kind and generous thing to do and anyone that doesn't like...well, they'll get over it (or Not!!!) :)

Wish more posters were as thoughtful and not always jumping on others for repeating statements that others may have made and we all didn't have a chance to read before we posted.
Smiling and burning off calories while husband watches the Steelers and I enjoy my B&B.

KK, I remember that flaming. It's like the thread I started asking S7S about her Carninval almost cruise. What a reaction! It seems like there are some posters who just lie in wait of the opportunity to say something negative.
Anyway, being a first time HAL cruiser in December, I have found both you and S7S to be a wonderful resource. Thanks to you both.

I'm loving that way to burn calories too, KK. Only problem is I read somewhere it takes more energy to frown than to smile. So does that mean the frowners burn more calories? Hmmmmm:confused:
But no matter. There is no question that smile lines are a lot more attractive on my aging face than those ugly frown lines. So I shall smile my way through any day and be the better for it. I live by the code of Maya Angelou's quote that you see right below my signature. These are the truest words.
May I say that getting to know so many of you on these Boards has been a real joy and while I have had a few problems with a few people, I now just brush it off and find this experience really enjoyable. So thanks to all of you who put a little joy in my day:)
