Geoff. I was wondering which night they had the first formal dinner. Hoping for the second night, (son's 18th birthday)
Also do they appear to do theme nights, did people get dressed up.
I think I will take some stuff anyway.

Hope the seas have eased and you and barb are enjoying your time away.
How was new years eve on board?

look forward to your next blog.

Usually second night Karon. We had an optional one then, as we were geared for a NYE formal instead. Was a mix on th optional night, so we could have had 3 if we wanted. Blog is updated. NYE was great. We are having Outback & Island Nights - will be dressing special in a safari suit. Seas are nice again, and we are loving it.
Cheers

Great to hear you will wear ye olde SAFARI suit Geoff, ah..I remember the dramas of those posts, mid last year.

Glad you have an opportunity to get another wearing of the delightful safari suit.

Hi Geoff,
Keen to know whether the gents are in dinner or lounge suits for the formal nights or are there more shirt and tie outfits appearing?
Also re wharf 8 embarking..do the early birds get to occupy one of those plastic chairs inside the terminal?
So happy to see a sunny day for that paradise spot, Champagne Bay...enjoy.

Just wondering how it will work for your sons cruise card, will they give him 2? a red to start with and a blue for after his birthday? Or can he change it to blue during the cruise? Even if he doesnt drink I am sure he would love to have the adult card as soon as he is 18.

It is lucky he can change his card. This is something we have researched greatly and even have printed off emails regarding this.
On the american cruises the age you are at embarkation is the age you are for the whole cruise. Ie if you are turn 21 on their cruises you still cant drink.

our son is not bothered about drinking but he does want to play poker, hoping he can win enough to pay for our cruise. He is very good at it.

We need to change it on his birthday

I have been on the phone today to inquire about birthday cakes for him and when the formal night is.
she told me there were two formal nights and 8 casual(not so much news for us here)
I also inquired about putting a note in the patters about our roll call meeting and she had no idea what i was talking about, either the paper or the website.

i should have given up at the start of the conversation when i tried to tell her, son was in a different cabin from me and had a different booking number although we were travelling together.she got totally confused then but was very friendly

I have a wonderful green number onboard, and it will be unleashed on Island night!!

Crownies - $5.50 + 10% (I think)
Mid $20s to $30 for some very drinkable Hunter reds we have been drinking with dinner.
Cheers

Karon,
Embarkation was funny. We had to check out of our motel at 10am, so we went down expecting to drop our luggage and find something to do. They had people there checking us in at 10:30, and issueing cards. They hoped we would disappear again, but we were part of a queue forming near the entrance. An extremely rude & obnoxious Carnival woman asked as to not queue and to go elsewhere. We asked where and got a pile of attitude, so our neat line became disorganised to appease her (must have been her job to eliminate queuing).
Anyway, we were onboard eating in Horizon Court before 12:30, and by spreading out the times, queuing was minimal.
This is my other suit that has not been outed yet!!
Jelly Beans sort of rhyming slang for teens. She is loving it, but we are not overly impressed. It is a no adult zone, but they can come & go as they please with no signing (remix - 13yrs +). The result is several teens run about the ship with no respect to other passengers. I figure their parents think they are in the club.
Cheers

Hi Geoff!

Hope all is going well and the seas are calmer for you!!!

Wondering if you can do me a HUGE favour please?

Can you wander on down to Dolphin deck and check out cabin D302 for me?

I've been offered this cabin for a Dawn Princess cruise and as the SP and DP are the same layout I thought you'd be able to let me know what it's like?

Really just wondering what's around it? On the deck plan there's an unmarked area directly across from it and behind that unmarked area is the public laundry. Just hoping it's not a people busy area, that's all ;) Otherwise i'll have to ask for a quieter one lol!

Thanks for your help!!!!! :D:D

Is a nice cabin. I stood in the corridor for 10 mins and was very quiet. The void opposite is the emergency stairs up to your muster point in the wheelhouse lounge. It will be noisy during the drill, or if you hit an iceburg, but will only have minor traffic from ships staff during normal times.

Thank you so much for taking the time out to do that for me :) I honestly appreciate it very much! :D

Went to visit the TA at Portside on Saturday, and she's going to do 'good price' for us! After a quick call some time later on this morning I should be booked and ready to go in Jan 09 :D

Thanks again!!

Hi Geoff
Have been keeping upto date with your blog (sounds great). Have one question for you. What is the sofa bed like ? We are in B750 to Asia on the 10 June, and I know after a late night at the casino with a few to many ales I better not disturbe my DW, so I will ask the steward to make up sofa bed on a daily basis to make sure i get some kind of a kip.
If poss a photo would be great.
Thanks in advance
Mike :)

Mike,
We have enjoyed B755, and yours should be a mirror image, the other side of the aft emergency stairs.
The sofa bed did not look overly comfortable, but our daughter has not complained. When the sofa bed is down, it is a bit of a squeeze getting out to the balcony, but should make a good plan B after a casino session.
The mattress on the king size bed is definately more comfortable though.
Cheers

Hi Geoff
Thanks for the heads up on the sofe bed. I should be able to crash out after a few (too many) ales. You said King size bed. Is that correct? Or am I getting excited too easily? If it is a king I might be able to grab a corner.
Thanks again and really looking forward to the last few days on you blog.

We have a queen at home, and it is definately wider - posssible not a full king though. There is also a deckchair on the balcony for plan C :p
