The Sapphire Princess is in Brisbane today. :) Unfortunately we wont be able to get a close up look as she cant come up to Portside. Looks like she is right down in the mouth of the river.

Hubby called earlier to say he saw it there too.
Then he had the audacity to say it looked ugly to him! How RUDE
I'm hoping to get down there after work to have a look at it before it goes :)

We're a bit spoilt in Brisbane today - two cruise ships in! Nautica is at Portside and Sapphire Princess is way down at the Grain Berth at Fishermans Island. Both sailing at 6pm.
Nautica is the same design as Pacific Princess - they used to be identical sister ships in a former life.

Well, I think she's a good looking ship! Can't wait till Wednesday when I finally get to go on board! :)
Every time she or the Diamond has come into Sydney I've gone and looked up in awe at everyone on her! Now it'll be my turn! woohoo :D
I'm still working tomorrow so the excitement will hit at about 3pm tomorrow when I clock off ;)

I don't doubt she's a beautiful ship on the inside. I just don't like her rear end. Have a wonderful & safe cruise.

I might go and have a sticky after work on Wednesday. I'll be at the Observation Deck at the OSPT.
Are you lucky enough to have a balcony mikeyg0? I hope you're able to do the Sounds on this cruise. They're truly magical.:) Hope the weather stays good for you.

Unfortunately I don't have a balcony cabin. I'm a poor uni student, so I'll take any opportunity to cruise I can get! lol So when I saw a really good special on an inside, I jumped! :)
What time will you be around? I'll be out on deck. I'll bring along a big Cruise Critics poster! lol :P Imagine the looks I'd get with that. Although Teegiee (I think it was) just posted an interesting story she had with her CC banner! lol
And I hope the weather stays good too. I've been to the sounds before when I was last in New Zealand but would love to do it on a cruise! They are amazing!

Daughter and I went in to have a look at the ships in today. Not a close look at the SP but a look across the river at her - sorry I must join the I think it is ugly crew. We also saw the Nautica docking after turning in the river. We had a nice BBQ brekkie in the park across from portside with Bek's friends (Thanks Gary and Julie). Had a nice close look at the ship, quite nice looking:)

I think it is fantastic that we all have different opinions on things. I'm a bit of a fence sitter, or should I say undecided.
She's big, but that is probably it. I don't find her 'glamorous', if that is the right word. Maybe it is the staggered balcony design?? Is it the design of the backside?? I just don't know what it is.
If she is like her sister, the Diamond, she is nice on the inside, but lacks some oompf,(if there is such a word:rolleyes:) features wise.
Would I cruise on a Mega Princess ship again....hmmm not too sure.

We went down and saw the Sapphire Princess tonight. She is absolutely massive! The best bit was the captain tooted the horn as they were pulling away - yay! :D
I am currently uploading a few photos and will post the link when they are complete.
MsMinx and Brisbane_First_Cruiser - I think I have a photo of you all at the ship tonight. We were on the other side of the river as you (i think). I was clicking away and when I came home and looked at my photos it looks like all of you standing there. :)

Yes and I didnl' see too many cameras so I think i know who you are.
Nice pics by the way, I was just hoping the ship would come a little our way to get a good clear shot but it didn't happen, oh it was interesting hearing the over zealous security guard ramble on :D

Were you guys all in a white 4WD and did you beep the horn and wave?
Sorry for not waving back but I wasn't sure if you were waving to us or the other ppl there. I didn't even realise it was you guys :o
It was great to hear the horn but the captain could have waited til I had the video camera turned on. hehehe :p

Surfoz,
Were you the tall gentleman standing beside your wife at the Caltex Crude Oil Wharf?
That poor security guard had nothing but foot in mouth :o .

Oh and what happened to Nautica? After the sapphire Princess we raced up to the Murrarie marina and to Colmslie reserve, my info said it was leaving at 6.12pm...nothing... or did i get the time wrong?
Did anyone see her? Any photos?

Hi Jarrod, I love the Sapphire Princess, even with an ugly backside lol
after our cruise last March we were determined to go again.
last friday I was sitting in the Yorkeys Knob boat club having a lemon/lime and bitters...gazing at the ship at anchor. jealous of all the passengers coming ashore by tender....but my time will come soon enough.
the one thing I didn't like about the Sapphire was the Buffet area was almost always crowded and hard to find a table..
kind regards, Lorraine:) :)

Surfoz and begginner cruise, thanks so much for your photos!
I spent a while at work today trying to find a webcam of Brisbane Port to see if I could get a look at her but I couldn't find any, so thanks! :)
As to Sapphire's looks, I agree there are other ships that look nicer. I still reckon she looks nice though and I think her sheer size is a part of why I like her. I'm going to get lost! lol :)
2 more sleeps to go! So exciting! :D
Night! :)

I certainly got lost!!:p I ended up always coming to a dead end somewhere.
One thing I didn't like was the very bad passenger flow, especially on the Promenade Deck, especially through the Explorers Lounge. It was bad enough that the venue was constantly full in the evenings, with people literally blocking the path to get through.
But it certainly has it positives. There were two splash pools at the rear, handy for me. There was also an outdoor pool, as well as an indoor one.
I found the buffet to be quite good. Things seemed to flow for us. Maybe we were just lucky. It did get a bit crowded in the food area, but they were good and kep replenishing the stock.
Every ship has got is good and bad points. I don't think there is, and ever will be, a perfect ship.:)

the idea of an inside pool is a great one.
While having it on the chilly NZ cruise in April was good we still found too much to do to sit in the pool.
It would also be good for the hotter days alos. I am assuming it can be cooled down.
we always found room at the buffet must be a timing problem

I got some video of the Nautica while she was still at Portside and then again when she sailed past the boat ramp at Pinkenba (?).
The battery on my video camera died when I got home though, so I will upload it later tonight :)

It's true - I was in a VERY cheeky mood that day!!
But I gave a nice warm "welcome to Brisbane" to all onboard the Sapphire so that's the main thing :D:D
