This is a photo that I took on Saturday, December 29, 2007 as the Oosterdam left San Diego.
I was a "little" frustrated since I had my tripod set up on deck and was "shooting furiously." A gentleman who had a camera similar to mine was asking me questions.
I love photography and am very happy to share my (limited) knowledge, but I was "missing the moment." The gentleman had just bought the camera and had a polarizing filter on it that was jammed. I tried to "politely" assist him, and felt bad that he was having problems. However, the "window of opportunity" for photographing the skyline was rapidly getting away.
So if you have a new camera, don't wait for the "event" to learn about your new "toy." Read the manual, and go out and shoot lots of photos to get the "feel" of the camera. Digital photography is very forgiving!
Regardless, I dedicate this photo to the "mystery man," and hope he learns more about his camera and also the joy of photography.
