We have booked a Deluxe Verandah (VC 5154) on the Eurodam in November. I was thinking that all of the Verandahs had refrigerators but, from what I see and read, they don’t.:( We really needed a place to keep our wine cool. Does anyone know for sure, yay or nay?

HAL calls them “mini-bars” in their literature and they are in all staterooms on the Eurodam. You can have your steward remove the contents so that you can use the mini bar/refrigerator for your wine.

Yes, use the mini bar refer, or the steward will bring you a miniture refridge....don't forget to bring your own bottle opener...it's prevents having to chase down the steward every time you want a bottle opened. It's so much easier just to do it yourself with your own opener....:) :)

Does anyone know if there are "mini-bars" in the Verandah cabins (VF) on the Noordam. I have medicine that should be refrigerated. If they don't have them in the cabins, can I arrange for one when we board? thank you for any information you can provide.

I have medicine that should be refrigerated.Yes, all cabins on all Vistas have them ... but they only cool to about 25 degrees below ambient room temperature. If your medicine must be kept colder than that the infirmary will store it for you.

Thank you so much for the reply. It sets my mind at ease.

I was glad to read on another thread that there is NOT a fridge or minibar in non-verandah rooms on the smaller ships such as Veendam. You can rent them for $2 a day, apparently, but I think we will use ice buckets!

I was surprised to discover that the Amsterdam, featured as one of the Grand Voyages (RTW) ships, does not have refrigerators in the lower categories; in contrast, the Prinsendam (a smaller and older HA ship) does have frigs in the lower categories. I find the lack of frigs on the Amsterdam alarming, particularily for those taking lengthy cruises and needing refrigerated medications. I ordered a frig for my RTW 2008 trip, but am concerned that, not being built-in, it may be constantly in the way. You are right -- it costs $2 per day.

I once rented a fridge for my cabin on the Maasdam. I simply removed the stool from under the dresser/mirror and the fridge fit there quite nicely; and it was out of the way!
