Hello, my world-traveling HAL friends!

What phone card would you recommend for use in this part of the world – Finland, Latvia, Russia …. We know our cell phones won’t work here.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have a pre-paid MCI card I bought at Costco four or five years ago. In anticipation of an upcoming HAL Baltics cruise, I just last week called MCI and obtained all the necessary toll-free access numbers to call to the U.S.A. from Denmark, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Sweden and Germany. It takes awhile to get through to a human being at MCI but they were very helpful and indicated I would have no problems placing calls to the U.S.A. from those countries by first dialing the provided toll-free access numbers. For what it is worth, I've used the same pre-paid MCI card from Costco to phone the U.S.A. many times in numerous other countries in Europe and from both Panama and Costa Rica. If you get one of these cards, I'd probably advise adding $20 to $30 worth of time to the card before you leave home as the per-minute rate from some countries to the U.S.A. can really eat up your card's balance.
