Asked TA for promo 7031/7032 for our 9/18 Zuiderdam cruise, and was told that we didn't qualify because of our low fare under a "swat" promotion. I was wondering if anyone knows what a swat promotion is, and why it would disqualify us from the credit?
Thanks

That is exactly what I was also told about my Veendam 8/22 cruise in regards to the promotional codes...NO GO. I don't know what SWAT is, but I will say I am very happy with the cruise rate I got...it was very good. When I called HAL, they reiterated the same thing, didn't use the same terminology, but referred to my special rate.

While I do not know what the letters "swat" mean or the specific promo numbers I have had the experience that my discount has been so deep that I have been told I do not qualify for shipboard credits. In my case it was an American Express Platinum Card Credit. I do not think these credits are something that people get without some special reason though and I personally would prefer a lower rate because that usually means more of a savings than the credit would mean.

I see...I am really happy with the deal we got on our suite too. I called HAL-just to see if I could get anywhere with them, and was told that they could only discuss my booking with my TA. Oh well, It was worth a shot I guess..
I had just never heard of that "SWAT" thing...
Thanks

SWAT was explained once on the old board, but I just can't remember what it meant. I think the thread was much like this one with being people being turned down for promos and the booking was under this swat classification.
Maybe jazzsea will explain it.

I remember the promotion but don't remember the details. I'll have the details later this morning.
I have been told that the deepest discount prices are non refundable and that no other promotions will apply. But SWAT? DOn't know. Thanks for giving me a research project. I'm not kidding. I like to research....

jazzsea,
I think it was TA who explained what SWAT meant on the old board.

Carol - Thanks for researching SWAT for us :). Am just curious what it means. I used a on-line internet agency ONLY for this particualr cruise, but won't be doing that again.

We have gotten some really deep discounts on cruises (especially our upcoming Westerdam and Veendam cruises) and so far we haven't been denied the Am Ex Plat shipboard credit.

SWAT is a promotion that is offered to specific agencies and in specific regions. I am a Premium Preferred agency and a HAL Centurion (Top 100 agencies in North America) and I do not get SWAT rates.
It is a deeply discounted price on a specific sailing and is usually State specific. (This means it could be offered to residents of Indiana and Illinois but not offered to Florida or other states.
A SWAT rate cannot be combined with any other discounts. It's not good for group rates (probably why I never get it).
Promotion 6027 is a VIP rate. It is offered to Mariners by invitation only. To book 6027 you must have the VIP number that is on the invitation. This rate is also used for consumer mailings to passengers that have booked ships under the Carnival umbrella but have not booked Holland America.
Here is the part that I didn't understand. The promotion is also given to passengers that ask for it at the time of booking....
How would you know to ask for it if you hadn't received a consumer mailing?
I have plenty of questions for my District Sales Manager.....
Anyone else as confused as I am???

I booked with an online agent too that has thus far given me very good service...I was just wanting that credit that everybody else was getting.
So I guess that swat thing gives you more savings than the 50pp shipboard credit would have?

A Swat rate cannot be used with an onboard credit promotion.
