Hi everybody. I have a cruise-only booking with this site. While it states on my receipt that docs will be pier pick-up, the agent on the phone said they would be mailed- which in print says in only done for air inclusive docs. Anybody know which is correct?

Up until our last cruise, we had booked through that agency. We did receive paper documents from them in June for our cruise in July. We have ceased to us that agency as we found customer service to be non-existent .:(

HAL no longer sends out pre-cruise documents like they used to (excursion booklet, immigration forms, etc.) That's all available online now. I believe it's only a matter of time until we are cruising with electronic tickets, just like most airline flights are nowdays. Arrive at the pier with booking number, passport, and credit card and you're in! All that would need to be mailed out would be the luggage tags.

That's interesting. While HAL has had excursion booklets on line for 2 or 3 years, we also received a paper-copy of one in our documents for our Alaska Cruise last year, along with the Know Before You Go Booklet and several other pieces of paper -- like the Cruise-formal brochure. Have they discontinued that, since?

I just recieved my normal doc package for our cruise in September. It included the shore excursion booklet, Know Before you Go, cruise tickets, vouchers, etc. etc. Including the usual 'rent a tux with us!' flyer!

So, I'd say we're still getting the package. Came in it's usual little leatherette case-thingie too. And it wasn't just because half my party is in an S suite, as the other half is in a H category. We all got the same package.

I was not talking about the cruise ticket package, but was referring to the pre-cruise package sent usually 6-7 weeks ahead of time. Princess still does this. My TA told me that HAL stopped sending that first mailing out.

We booked our October 2005 Oosterdam cruise thru *********** they assured me that we would receive our normal document package about 4 weeks before we sail. At this time have no reason not to believe them. I can already go on line to HAL and my cabin number comes up for the immagration form so I know everything is all set with HAL. I am not sure if they will come from HAL or ***********. When we have booked with our local TA we just go to her office to pick up the Docs.

We booked through *********** for our October 2nd cruise and we received are complete documents yesterday. We were not expecting them until about a week before the cruise, but to our surprise, the package arrived yesterday. The packet included everything from the luggage tags to a shore excursions book.

We received a pre document package about a month ago for our Rotterdam cruise on October 20.

The forms listed information on shore excursions and encouraged us to fill out our immigration forms and book our tours on line. I expect the actual documents will come in about a month.

In my prior experience (5 cruises booked through ***********) I have never received a pre-booking package from them. I think they wait till everything comes thru, which I am sure saves mailing costs, but doesn't allow you to see the booklet on the shore excursions. Thankfully, HAL has the shore excursion information on their internet site.

Hmmm ... I feel like I've been missing out. With HAL I've never received a package of materials prior to the actual cruise documentation/"Know Before You Go"/Shore Excursion/Immigration Form/etc. In other words, the "Cruise Docs" include far more than just the ticket book; and this package has usually come somewhere between a month and a 6 weeks prior to the cruise.

Well, now I'm really befuddled. I thought maybe I was dreaming about a pre-cruise info packet mailing. Now, Jazzsea mentions above a pre document package. Oh well. As long as I get the tix the rest doesn't really matter. I already have our shore excursions booked.

I have been sailing with HAL for well over 20 years, I have never received a pre-cruise package ahead of my actual documents. I feel like I am missing out on something. What is this pre-cruise package consist of????
