View Full Version : Have Your Cruise Docs Arrived On Time?

I still don't have cruise docs for our 9/20 Prinsendam sailing. My TA checked with HAL last month and was told they were in process. When they hadn't come in at the typical 5 week point, she called again for tracking numbers to trace them. HAL had no tracking numbers! Strange. Did they really ship them? At any rate, HAL is supposedly reissuing them so we should have them next week.

Are your docs arriving on time?

Jim-

Ours in fact arrived earlier than we expected for our July cruise! Sounds like HAL screwed up with yours Jim.:( I can imagine that especially on a european itinerary you'd be anxious to get them early as many will travel to Europe early! Can't wait to hear your opinion of the Prinsendam!!

Jim,
We don't have ours yet either for the same cruise.

We got ours yesterday for the 09/04 Zuiderdam sailing. I wouldn't worry just yet. The online agency told us they would FED EX them 7-10 days prior to the cruise. We told them we had to have them sooner so she priority mailed them and we got them 3 days later. Why dont' they do that with all of them. It would certainly save them some money.

Jim,
This just in from our TA:

"The documents were printed yesterday and I was told then that they would be mailed out by Friday. HAL has been way behind in getting out documents. Lately I have been receiving them 10-14 days prior to sailing. We were getting them aprox. 6 weeks prior."

So we'll look for them next week (for 9/20 sailing).

Thanks, Ev. My TA noted that HAL is usually right on top of things, and was surprised that this has happened. If most posters report that their docs arrive in a timely manner, then that's good. This is just a fluke. On the other hand, if many others report getting them late, then I would have to wonder if HAL has cut their Seattle document processing staff.

They haven't cut staff but they do have people taking vacations.

We always receive them four weeks prior to the cruise.

Now, that said, we are cruising 11/3/04 on the Noordam - watch, they will be late. :)

I do have my booking number for that cruise - but I think it's too early for excursions...

We have one set of documents for our cruise on September 25. However, the travel agent says that the other one hasn't been received from HAL yet. She claims that HAL sends documents at different times for the same cruise. Seems strange to me.

 Quick question for you KAKcruiser...you mentioned receiving 1 set of docs, awaiting another...? If you have 2 people going, are you supposed to have 2 sets?? You are making me wonder about my TA.
Our set arrived on 8/05 for a 8/29 sailing, so about 3.5 weeks, not bad.
Our TA has seemed to have a case of "sometimers" from one day to the next. So I thought nothing of it when she phoned yesterday and left a panicky message to call her right back. When we finally hooked up, she said to disregard her call, but HAL had sent another set of docs. Now, because of your comments, I'm thinking we should have had another?? Please put my fears to rest.

We got a set for each of us last year for Zaandam cruise. Hubby's & son's arrived, mine did not....they made an error with the transfers. The TA checked and I finally got mine about 2 weeks before cruise AND they gave each of us a $50 shipboard credit for the inconvenience.

O-o-o-o. That sounds good to me. I'll wait a bit in return for a shipboard credit! ;)

I should have stated this part, sorry I forgot. The little checkbook sized thing with the itinerary, contract, names etc. has both of our names listed under the section labled "Full Names of Passengers".....
1st line says LAST NAME, PARTY OF 2
2nd line says DH FIRST NAME AND MY FIRST NAME
....so that seems like I should only have one set right? I mean there is only sheet (pg 9) that is labeled Cruise Ticket and it has both names. Any problems here??

Rest easy, that is what it should be. On all of our many cruises, the docs have always been like that. Even on our BtoB cruises we only have one set of docs for both cruises. Read everything in your ticket booklet and make sure everything is there, vouchers for transfers, cruise ticket, vouchers for any cabin credit etc. hotel vouchers if HAL has booked for you. Don`t worry, and have a great cruise.....jean

Phew! That does make me feel better. Thank you Jean!!:D

Heh. We always get two sets of docs, one for DH and one for me. But that's easy to understand since I have a different last name than he does. When critter cruises with us, we get three sets! (Child has dad's last name, not mine nor a hyphenated version.)

I didn't realise they DID joint tickets. Heh.

We just received our docs today (8/18) for cruise on Zaandam on 9/04 to Alaska. So only 2-1/2 weeks before we leave. I guess I didn't realize it was getting late. We're ready to go!

The documents for my Sept 25th sailing of the Zaandam have not yet arrived ... but, then, I don't really start looking for them until I hit the 30-day mark. If they haven't appeared by about Sept 10th I'll probably be on the phone to my TA, because they've never been later than about 20 days prior to sailing.

Our party of 6 also received our docs today, 8/18 for our Sept. 4, Zaandam cruise to Alaska. We are all very excited and ready to go. Let's have a GREAT cruise with great weather!

Our docs for the 9/18 Zuiderdam cruise arrived Monday evening by UPS. Pretty amazing considering we just booked it this past Thursday.:D

We have 2 cabins booked with 3 people in one and 2 people in the other. The travel agent got the tickets for the cabin with 3 people two weeks ago but the documents for the cabin with 2 people is the one that hasn't arrived yet. I thought that HAL would do the entire sailing at the same time.

We got our tickets on the 16th for our 09/04 cruise. The TA told me they send them as soon as they get them and we should have them 7-10 days before the cruise. I kept reading that everyone else was getting them for later sailings and I e-mailed HAL. They responded the next day that the documents had been mailed to the TA and I needed to contact them again. I sent the message from HAL and they mailed my documents that day. We have always gotten two sets of documents. I dont' know if its because we were both Mariners before we got married or whatever but that's the way its always been. I wonder why they dont' do e-docs? Or maybe they do?

E-docs would make sense. Perhaps in time.

7-10 days prior to a cruise seems late to me. I understand if one arranges air through the cruise line that the tix arrive later than if one doesn't. We've always had ours about a month out. Not this time. The thing that still is puzzling is why some posters above who are sailing after we are already have their docs. I know ... I'll get them eventually. Not worried. It's just that my tootsies are anxious to do the famed document dance!;)

sumtique-

Glad to hear someone else is on the Zaandam for Alaska. Go to the Roll Call form and post to the Zaandam- 9/04 Alaska thread. Maybe we can start getting some others to post. Pretty quiet group so far.
