Standard Balcony cabins

I have booked a standard balcony cabin Golden deck on the Island Star for our 16 night transatlantic cruise next year, anybody know what these cabins are like and has anybody ever done a transatlantic on the Island Star

We had a premier balcony on Sapphire deck last year so can only comment on that......twin beds with a pullman bed, sofa, table, dressing table and chair, plenty of wardrobe space. The shower was huge! Balcony had table and 2 chairs- definitely nice to have your own bit of outdoor space. Any other questions please ask!

Hi I've only had a balcony cabin on the Platinum deck. Found it to be really nice and a lot bigger than balcony cabins that I've had on NCLs ships. The beds can be made into twins or a double & it was nice to have a sofa that you could relax on. The balcony was a bonus. One thing that I would say that you may wish to take some coathangers with you as there weren't may in our cabin but luckily we went prepared!

I have been on the Star twice now and am booked to go again in June.

Thanks for your info, I do not think the standard cabin has a sofa in it so maybe you were in a cabin grade higher than the one I have booked.

Let me know how your transatlantic cruise is as this is what we are doing and I have not been transatlantic before. Has anybody any info on transatlantic from the Caribbean to Palma

I understand the bottled water is quite expensive is it ok to drink the tap water or not, I usually drink 2litres per day if I have to buy it I think it will cost me about £80 in the 3 weeks

They have water available at the help yourself beverages counter. I used to add a slice of lemon to mine! There's no signs on the taps to say it's not drinking water so it should be OK! :)

Most ships have to have potable water in their taps.

Think of the consequences were it not to be that way!
Little children brushing their teeth? - and swallowing some?

It simply isn't that difficult,these days
for ships to have clean water running all through their systems
- they make their own fresh water these days, via onboard desalinators!
They even flush the toilets with their own 'home-made fresh water
so what's the problem when it comes to supply ?

I frequent the Ocean Village forum, on these boards,
and this same discussion transpired.
Turns out the ship's doctor on one of the two OV ships told someone
that the tap water's perfectly okay.
They just want to sell you the same stuff -in a bottle- for 2 Pound fifty.:cool:
