Hi All,
While reviewing my lovely document package recently mailed by HAL (in preparation for my first HAL cruise March 9th on the Westerdam) I found the funniest typo and had to share with everyone.
In the section 'Shipboard Life' under 'Swimming' the following statement is written.
"Should you need anything-a refreshing beverage or a lap blanket-an attentive deck steward will be never by to assist you."
I'm sure they meant 'ever by' but I found this quite amusing!:D
Have a great afternoon!

Considering the staffing cuts over the past year or two - it's, unfortunately probably all too true!

I noticed that too when I got my documents a couple of weeks ago. Like you, I had a good chuckle over that one.

I read that as well "never by" -- two typos.

I think it should read "Should you need anything-a refreshing beverage or a lap blanket-an attentive deck steward will be near by to assist you." :)
Could have been worse. I thought it was going to read something about a lap "dance" and an attentive steward.

That reminds me - on our Amsterdam cruise on the Lido deck they
had listed "bland orange sherbet" and "Heat chocolate bar"
We got quite a chuckle out of that. there were often typos in the
daily program. This is common everywhere - even in hardcover
books from the library. spellcheck doesn't catch everything and
human proof reading is a thing of the past.

Years ago I paid $60 for a college course textbook. I stopped counting typos after around 60. And that was within the first three chapters! The worst case I've ever seen ... and it was in a higher-education textbook.

The best ones are in attempted English translations. In Portugal once, my restaurant bill had a line near the bottom labeled "Generous". I'm guessing that was for the tip :).

In the daily program for a port day once, it was noted that "The onboard shops will be closed due to costumes regulations."

In one of my college classes, the professor wrote the textbook, which was full of typos. Unfortunately the class was extremely boring so I kept myself awake by editing the textbook during class. My gift to him at the end of the semester was my copy of the textbook back, completely edited.
