View Full Version : The color of the Water.....

:) Okay.....I guess I am about to prove I have 'gone over the edge' but I was at the supermarket and bought something I am so enjoying. I have to share it.

We have a major supermarket chain in our area called Stop & Shop.

I was buying jello and noticed they had store brand packages beside the regular jello brand. A package called Berry Blue (sugar free) jello caught my eye. What would blueberry jello look like? I was curious enough to buy a package and I mixed it up as soon as I got home. It is now set and I took out a custard cup of it to eat. I caught my breath as I removed it from the refrigerator.

It is exactly the color of the ocean at HMC on a bright sunny day and when the dish moved a little in my hand, the movement of the jello made me immediately visualize I was ''looking at the beautiful blue of that water'.

Anyone who lives near a Stop & Shop and needs a 'dose of looking at that gorgeous ocean'.......go get some jello!!! :)

Sail,

I have to say I agree with you. You've gone over the edge.;)

Just don't let it be the edge of the Stop N Shop that's over the Mass Turnpike. That can get dangerous.:D

You definitely need a vacation...do it now, don't delay. Job burnout is a terrible thing and you exhibit the first trait which is "staring at blue jello"~!

:) :) Okay, I admit it. I need a cruise!!

Any excuse that gets DH telling me to call our TA works for me!!

October is too long for me to wait, don't you think? It seems I need to cruise sooner. :D ........to HMC particularly.

We need Dr. Phil to sign onto this board! :D I will have to agree with S7S that there's nothing like that water at HMC. Just going out a ways and standing, watching the fish around you, is totally awesome!

Sail, three more cruises and HAL will engrave your name on the door of your chosen S suite!

YOU DO need to take another cruise - and soon.

Do have to admit that we love the color of the water at HMC.

By the way, how did Berry Blue jello taste?

If I remember correctly, didn't you say that your TA is just around the corner from where you live?

Why not stop in to see your TA on your morning walk and book a cruise and surprise your DH?

My grandson is now 11 and I used to buy blueberry Jello for him when he was a wee one. We've had it in Canada for a long time - can't believe the US is way behind us as usually it's the other way around.

Esme.....no where, to my knowledge, did I say it was brand new here.
It was new to me; I do not shop in that store very often and had never seen it. But, for all I know, it has been on the shelves for years.

You are trying to read too much into a light, airy, pleasant observation. This is not a critique of the various flavors of jello available on U.S. store shelves.

Seeing as this market is one of the so-called "super stores" and is absolutely huge, I imagine there are a great many products there I have never seen....and well may not see for years to come. And......I imagine I shall get along just fine without them.

Rev........It is BAD!!! Isn't it??

How many more cruises until they change the name of the ship from Maasdam to OUR name (with a dam suffix)????? :)

Actually, I'd kind of like "our name" on OUR Suite Door!!!:D

KK....Yes, the owner of the Travel Agency we use lives in our neighborhood. From my front door to his is under a five minute walk. The office is a bit further away........but driven in 6-7 minutes at most!!!

What a nice belated birthday gift that would be for DH........think he'd 'believe' I did it just for him???

(Thankfully for the stability and happiness of our marriage.....he loves the 'dam' ships as much as me and is well aware that I have claimed Maasdam as "mine". ;)

I thought it would taste like blueberry but it really didn't. It was just so pretty to look at.

Tomorrow I'll be back at the store buying out their supply :) Just so I can keep seeing that incredible blue.

Jim.....How do I apply for 'that courtesy?' :D How neat would that be when we return to "MY" Maasdam in the future, to have our Suite door engraved with our name? Talk about egotistical!!! Kidding folks....only kidding. Don't go getting crazy!!!

You are welcome to fish off any 'dam' deck of any 'dam' ship we ever should find ourselves on. And Rev.......I'm counting on you to pull in a load of packed full lobster traps and we shall FEAST that night. We might even share with all our CC friends..........whaddayathink? :)

Rev. Neal......That picture you posted was absolutly perfect.......And it snuck up so suprisingly!! Had me laughing (love your humor) and smiling in anticipation. Lisa and I are sailing on the same date as you but different ships. I suspect that if I don't stop obsessing that I may not live to see Sept. 25 as she may have to put me out of my misery!! Thanks again for the pic. Chef Nancy:) :D

S7S-

I used to make that jello for the kids, and it was such a pretty blue till it hit their tongues! I guess some things are better seen and not tasted!!!!

I am with you on the cruise dependency, we have been home a month with my boys and I again have become a human taxi! It's 100 days till our next cruise and I want to start packing!!!! I am hoping the urge dies down a bit next week when the boys go back to school!!!!

P.S. Vicar- On S7S's Maasdam we could order all the Suites open and have one heck of a travelling cocktail party with RevNeal at the lead!!!

Hey, Golfgrl1911, thank you and you're VERY welcome! If you would like to see more photos of HMC, you can click the link below in my signature. I got some really photos of the island on my Volendam Wayfarer Cruise in 2002.

As for Sept 25 ... I don't think it's going to arrive. I've got SO MUCH to do between now and then that I don't think I'm going to make it!!!!!!! :D However, it really won't be long, now, before you'll be boarding on the East coast and I'll be boarding on the West Coast. I'll remember to check the fleet board in the Atrium and ID the Zuiderdam's location. You do the same for me ... ok? :D I'll be posting a travel-log from the Zaandam during this cruise, so you can even follow m on this board. :)

Somehow the thought of eating anything 'blue' turns me off! Apart from 'blue cheese', which isn't really blue, can't think of anything else edible that's blue.

Just a thought - could I tint my goldfish bowl!!!!!!!!!

How about blueberries?!? Aside from that, I'm not fond of blue food, or drink! It doesn't feel natural, like when the green and purple ketchup came out, I couldn't bring myself to try that either.

I will be at the ready on the Lido , chainsaw in hand , just cattleprod old Bessie on over and place your order :)

S7S,

You think the green ketchup is gross? you have to see the purple. GFs son (hes 6) begged us for it when it came out. In honesty it tastes like regular ketchup. Its just the fact of this purple goo all over your burger and fries :)

S7S-

Was hoping that you and DH might have reserved the Penthouse for the Veendammers 11/26/05 cruise. Granted it wouldn't be on "your" ship, but it sure looks and is laid out very simularly! What a party we could have!!!

I truly do hope to sail in a suite one of these days , I guess just to say I did :)
like I said though for me, outside of the bigger cabin and maybe a small percentage of the perks it would be wasted on me.

In Las Vegas we had the High Roller suite and outside of the hors douves trays and fully stocked bar every day, and the comped tickets for the hottest shows in town. We just didn't use all that many of the ammenities.
I mean the suite was gorgeous and they treated you like a king, but thats just me.

HOWEVER if the suite means more room for a wild and crazy CC party, then count me in *LOL*

We sure could have a few great parties in that room!!When we sailed the Rotterdam, we had tablemates in 7001. Had a very nice pre-dinner party, and the captain dropped in to chat for a while. It is a beautiful cabin, isn't it Jim? We were in 7002 (portside) and it was a treat.

Did you see the bathroom off of the bedroom? Or did you just use the guest powder room? The tub in the large bath and the circular shower, double sinks, separate room for the commode......it is great!!

My DH really loved the dining room table and preferred having our breakfast there rather than on the veranda. We always love eating outside in our regular "S" but he was so comfortable at that table, he loved it.

When we were on the Rotterdam, we had 7004.

Did you get to use the huge tub? We couldn't use ours. The water was either broiling when you turned on the cold tap and scalding when you turned on the hot tap. And the water that came out was a rust color. Maintenance looked at it - shrugged their heads and walked away.

We ate a lot of lunches there.

And we loved the big picture windows to sit in front of while cruising down the Orinoco.

That was 16 days of bliss.

I love lemon blueberry bread. Is yours like a poundcake consistency?

One thing I really like in Neptune Lounge is the lemon poundcake in the afternoons.....and the marble. Oh...now I'm hungry for some.

(I agree KK those windows in the living room are amazing. I loved sitting on the window seat and watching the water......I used to sit and read there. It was glorious.

I used the whirlpool a few times but I had to be cautious as it was soon after my surgery and my doctors warned me to not stay in too long. He gave the okay to enjoy it for a short time but to not linger too long.

No - my lemon blueberry bread is not like a pound cake. Just like bread with blueberries and lemon zest.
