We're taking the March 3rd cruise from Rio to Valparaiso. We're going into Rio a couple of days early and have our tours booked for Corcovada and Sugar Loaf. We plan to go to the Hippie Fair on Sunday. I would appreciate any input concerning other options, such as Platforma, etc.
We would also like to get ideas on what to do or not to do at the other ports along the way, especially Buenos Aires since we'll have two full days there.
We took the Hal cruise from Copenhagen to St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Oslo, etc. last August and with the exception of St. Petersburg and Berlin, we toured on our own with some friends rather that booking the HAL tours.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The second day in Buenos Aires you might consider taking a train to the Tigre River Delta area. It is a collection of primitive villages scattered around this river. The BA train station is across from the Sheraton. The info window can direct you to the correct train. Make sure you understand the train and boat schedule so you can return to the ship. I would only do it as a morning trip. The Rotterdam will dock not to far from the train station. This is a very inexpensive independent trip in non ac trains and open air small boats. We enjoyed the "National Geographic" experience.

We booked a private tour company to pick us up at the pier to take us on a half day city tour and then to the domestic airport for a flight to Iguazu to see the falls. We stayed at Sheraton saw the falls and returned to BA the next afternoon. Best excursion we have ever done.

Hi Beth - I may have replied to the wrong place earlier. Thanks for the reminder to join the roll call. My wife, Joye and I will arrive in Rio on Saturday, March 1st. We plan to tour that afternoon.
Thanks,
