Oosterdam transatlantic, Spring, 2009?

Is the Oosterdam going to do a transatlantic in Spring of 2009 for
revenue? Or is it going to deadhead to drydock?

I checked the website and could not find any mention of it.

They don't have any of the the Big O's schedule for Spring 2009. I would be surprised if they didn't have passengers- from my limited experience that is very rare. Wouldn't seem to make sense to sail from San Diego to Italy w/o pax.

The current version of the O'dam deck plans, downloaded recently from the HAL website, has two sets of deck plans:

One version is "effective Until April 2, 2009".
The 2nd version is "effective April 24, 2009".SO, Oosterdam's getting a makeover in April '09 -- I guess in some shipyard in Italy.

My 2009 sailing schedule shows an 18 day Oosterdam transatlantic leaving on March 14. It is a photocopy given to us onboard our Noordam
(1/26) so there is no itinerary listed.

Thanks to all for your responses. Thanks GN, I will do some more
checking. That means Oosterdam will probably do a trans-canal and then
leave from Florida to Italy.

HAL would lose money by not having a TransAtlantic crossing right before the Oosterdam goes into dry dock. The Westerdam had a TransAtlantic crossing and the Zuiderdam has one this spring.

The Oosterdam is listed on the Holland America Line web site for a fourteen (14) day sailing departing San Diego on 28 February, 2009 to Fort Lauderdale. It is also open for booking.

What a great itinerary. 3 good ports in Mexico and overnight in
Fuerte Amador. Plenty of time to see Panama City. I will be on the
Oosterdam March 8, so I will book it then.
