Leaving on the Oosterdam on Saturday!

First, is there wireless internet on the boat? If I bring my laptop will I be able to get online? Are there fees?

Second, what is the thermal lounge? Does it cost money? Do you recommend?

We're driving down to San Diego Friday and I absolutely cannot wait! I got my bonine and ginger today, along with plenty of sunscreen and aloe!

Any other last minute advice is much appreciated!

Yes, there is wireless. It is slow but it is there and the ship has several hot spots. It is expensive and the price depends on the package you choose.

Yes, the thermal lounge is a fee and you can buy a daily or weekly pass. Check it out when you get onboard.

We loved the Oosterdam and think the PG on that ship is the best of any HAL ship we have sailed so far. We had a blast!

There is a $3.95 hook up fee.

One plan is the pay by the minute -- I think iot is around $0.75 per minute.

The second plan is $55 for 100 minutes.

The third plan is $100 for 250 minutes.

If you sign up the first day, plan 2 will give you 10 free minutes.

Plan 3 -- 20 free minutes.

If you think you need internet then I would suggest you bring your laptop. You can type up your emails while you're offline then only connect when you need to send them - this can save a lot of money.

You can type up your emails while you're offline then only connect when you need to send them - this can save a lot of money. And of course you can also down-load all incoming emails in a batch and read them off-line as well. Besides the convenience of not having to go to the Explorations Cafe (and risk Norovirus? ... just kidding :) ) to go on-line, I like having the capability to back-up my pictures to a CD each night, in case of a loss or malfunction of my camera! :)
