We just booked the Volendam for the day after Thanksgiving. We sailed the Zaandam last year. The ship's deck plan looks the same. What are the differences that you have noticed?

Also, I read on another board that they are charging for the Java Cafe. Is this true? It's one of our favorite spots. Maybe it is just for alcohol-added drinks. (Hope so!)

Also, we were able to dine in the Pinnacle the first night for $10 each. Is this still in effect?

I'm sure I'll have more questions later!

Volendam 11/26/04
Zaandam 12/03
Grandeur of the Seas 2/02
Westerdam 1998
Regal Princess 1996
SS Rotterdam 1989? (last sailing before decomission)

The Volendam and Zaandam are sister ships, you will notice subtle differences, such as colors and theme's of the two ships, other than that, you will find them to be pretty much the same. Enjoy the Volendam, I booked her for next March, we love her and I am sure you will as well.

Hi, there are a small number of CCers on this cruise. There are six in our party and, I think, at least two other posters from this board.

Can't help with your questions, though. Sorry.

Only the new Vista ships (Oo, Zui, etc.) have charges for coffee at the Java Cafe. They are serving Starbucks. I will still enjoy my coffee and Tom his tea.

We even gave the two girls an extra tip because we were there more than in the bars.

The Pinnacle Grill is 2/1 on night of embarkation. We did this on the Zaandam and had a lovely evening. The chocolate volcano is killer...two bites only!

We're looking forward to a relaxing 10 days...

We were on the Volendam last January and there was no charge at the Java Cafe, which is a very good thing, since besides being a cruise addict, I am a Jave addict!
