My parents are considering a cruise to Alaska. Can anyone tell me what the situation is like for smokers on this particular ship?

We were on the Amsterdam about 15 months ago: smoking was allowed in the cabins, one side of the ship's deck and a few bars as well as the casino. They did have a couple of non smoking nights in the casino but you could still smoke at the bar outside the casino. I am a smoker< DH is not, we thought the policy was very fair to everyone.

I agree with the previous post. We were on the Amsterdam just a couple of months ago. We are not smokers but smoking didn't appear to be a great problem. Smokers seemed to be happy and we didn't have or hear any complaints from non smokers. I'm not certain about which staterooms were open to smokers but the deck areas and what not, where smokers could relax, were pretty much a mixed bag or mingling of both. I have no problem, on deck, being with smokers.
