We are in Nassau from 7 - 12 30pm is it worth going to atlantis? There are seven of us if we rented a room at the comfort suites could we all use the pools? If the weather is bad at HMC do you go somewhere else?

I was at the Atlantis for 5 days in March. The grounds are beautiful. The slides are alot of fun. Food by the pools are reasonable for a resort. Drinks are good. You have to be careful about where you eat, some areas of Atlantis only take your room charge. I think if you go on the website it will tell you where. We didn't have a problem getting a chair. If ocean is too choppy you they will stop you from going in the water. It really depends on how much money you want to spend. Split 7 ways it probably won't be too bad.

If the weather is bad at HMC, they won't stop there. And you don't go to any other port in that area. If is the last stop, then you will sail around till it is time to return to Ft Lauderdale. If is the first stop, then you will onto the next port - usually at a slower speed - you don't get to that port any sooner.

But the weather has to be bad before the captain makes a decision about whether to lower the tenders and go ashore.

We have missed HMC quite a few times.

Atlantis is worth a visit, IMO. The Dig is really something nice to see, but it's pricey ... $25 per person. But it's a lovely aquarium. You can grab a cab once you leave the dock area and get over there in just a few minutes. A water taxi is also available, but sometimes there are lines and it's a bit of a walk up to Atlantis once the water taxi lands on the other side.

If you book a room at the Comfort Suites to enable you to use Atlantis, will you be able to check in that early? Will they give you wrist bands for 7 people, when only booking a double room? I have a friend that stays at CS often so they can use the facilities of Atlantis, and I know the last time she went they had to pay extra for an additional person in their room. Just some food for thought...jean

Unfortunately, no one has answered the original question - is it worth going to Atlantis being in port only 5 hours (4 hours considering transportation to and from and being back on the ship 1/2 hr before departure). I would also like to know if it is worth it because we are in port those same hours.

Sorry ... I thought my statement "Atlantis is worth a visit, IMO" answered the question. Perhaps I should elaborate. If you don't get access to the beach or pool area, and choose to not spend the $25pp to visit The Dig, then you might still enjoy the casino and going out back on the verandas and enjoying the great view with a cool drink. It's a beautiful place to see. But with such a short time in port, I don't think it would be worth paying for a room just to use the facilities for a couple of hours. Does that help?

We visited Atlantis last year while in Nassau on a cruise. We paid to go through the dig and aquarium areas and walk around those areas of the resort you could get to with those particular wrist bands. We thought it was worth it, but there will not be enough time to really use the resort amenities, even if you all did get wrist bands. We went back to Atlantis for 4 days this year and realized after that we had barely seen the tip of the iceburg the previous year. Atlantis is beautiful, very large and can not be seen and enjoyed in a few short hours. I am very glad we returned there. That being said....a cruise is still a better value but I wouldn't give up the trip to Atlantis. So..if you want a small taste of the resort go ahead...just realize you won't really experience it in that short of a time. It is worth a trip all of its own! Hope this helps!

I called the Atlantis 1-800-ATLANTIS yesterday and the lady told me the aquarium and dig were $29.95. I ordered a brochure to be sent to me when I called. I was traveling solo the last time I was there and took a cab over (about $3 from the straw market to Paradise island). The resort is incredible. You can walk through public areas and shopping (very high end) and gamble at the casino. I remember a bagel and coffee being around $8. I walked the outside grounds and talked to a bellman for a while as we watched the multi-million $ yachts come in and dock. It is well worth the trip and since my significant other has never been to Nassau, this will be worth the trip for him over there, too. I'm sure he'll want to say he at least gambled there. Maybe he'll hit the jackpot!!! We can hope.

Thanks everyone,:) my daughter has seen Atlantis on the Mary Kate and Ashley vidio and I must admit it looks pretty good, I think we will take the plunge and book a room at the Comfort Suites, race round all the water slides at 8 in the morning and then the rest of the hotel.

Just remember there's very little time there. Our cruise does the same thing. The ship has to clear first before you can go ashore and you'll have to be back on the ship by 11:30 a.m.

We did very much enjoy the aquarium when we went last year (we went on the ship's tour and the cost was included). So this time, we're going to stay on the ship.

I also do not think you will have enough time. Also I would not recommend taking the water taxi as this is an old boat they will unsafely overload with passengers. If you go take a car taxi instead.
