Hi everyone
We are packing for our cruise coming up ths Saturday to Alaska on the Zaandam for 8/28. Wondering if we need to carry cash for the casinos or is there a ATM on board or can we charge it to our room? How does HAL do this?
Thanks.

We took cash. There is no ATM on board. You can charge it to your account, but there is a 3% surcharge.

You can cash travel checks in the casino or at the front desk. Actual cash is not used in the casino - you buy tokens or chips.
Good Luck!!!!!! :D

Can you purchase the tokens or chips with cash or do you have to use travelers checks? Sorry for asking this stupid question.

Have a great trip Miny - the Zaandam is beautiful. We were on her for our first cruise last year to Alaska and loved every minute.:D

you could buy them in advance as a gift. I believe there is no charge. There is usually a card in you stateroom upon arrival, which you redeem in the casino. We have done this several times. Works out great

Buying them in advance through Ship Services is a great way to stick to your gambling budget. Of course there are ATM machines in Alaska and you can get cash in port and almost any bank.

There is also a limit as to what you can charge to your ship baord account when in the casino - I think it is $1000 per day.
