I have booked S4185 and S5186 for our family's Western Caribean Christmas cruise. My husband and I (with our children) always cruise suite cabins in the midship area. But we are bring our mothers, ages 85 and 73 along for the first time.
Would you render your opinons about these cabins? Also, how suitable these cabins are for elderly lades that are taking their 1st cruise? Is S4185 always in the shade because of the Veranda Deck above it? Are they comfortable for 3 adults? Where is the Neptune Lounge located? Are the cabins too far from the Lounge?
Also, we are confirmed for the 6:15 dining. Will it be in the upper or lower Dinning Room? Which is more desirable?
Any info from you will be appreciated.

Some information that may help.
5186 is wonderful IF you are booking it for verandah size. At 360sf (interior)5186 and 5187 are the largest of the Aft tiered S suites. 4185 /4180 are (I believe) the smallest at some 311 interior sf. They are perfectly fine in every other respect and obviously feature the standard S amenities.
HOWEVER:
If it were my mother, I would specifically NOT place her there because of the location (yes.. I love the location but it IS a hike everytime you leave the cabin). That includes going up to Rotterdam to visit the nice folks in the Neptune Lounge.
The verandah in both cases offers a largely shade-free environment on the primary portion of the verandah. However the Aft S suites do have the side wraparound component that is about 6 feet deep (if I remember correctly) and runs legthwise for up to 20+ feet. It is shaded very nicely and very private ... but because there are no balcony partitions to break up the wind .. it can be VERY windy at sea.
All of that said ... I am in 5187 on my upcoming Westerdam cruise and would not have it any other way.. but I have experienced these things and I don't mind the trade off for the verandah. I think that, if you did have the opportunity to switch, your travelling companions might appreciate the consideration.
Or they could lov eit as much as we did!! But better that you be accurately informed about the specific things you mentioned.
Cheers!

6:15 dining is in the lower dining room. Which is more desirable is a matter of choice.
The venanda is not covered and the people above you look down upon you in the veranda. Check the deck plan on the HAL web site. The Neptune loung is on deck 7 I believe. Your cabins are on 4 and 5. I think you might have given a wrong cabin number. As the person before this said there is a long walk to get to anything as you are as far aft as you can be on those decks. He had the cabin numbers correct in his post. They have the largest verandas and since they wrap around one part is always in the shade.
