Can someone explain the Half Moon Cay cabanas in more detail to me?
I understand you can get a cabana with or without a butler, but I don’t understand the “color” aspect of the packages.
Also, I am trying to figure out how much would a cabana be for 5 people (with and without a butler).
I am sailing in November 2008 on Eurodam and the shore excursions said “not available” through the web site and the general information part of the site only lists the cabanas as “$$$” (expensive).
I am considering surprising my traveling companions with a cabana as a gift.
On the same note, when will shore excursions be available through the web site?
Thanks in advance!

The color aspect is just the color the cabana is painted. It's the way each one is identified. I believe the price is just the listed price; you can cram as many people in as you want if you don't get butler service. If you do, I believe the price increases with number of people. Never spent the money for one, so I am sure someone who has will come along and correct me if I'm wrong.

If you go over to the "Private Islands" board, there is tons of info and opinions on Half Moon Cay and the cabanas.

As to when the excursions will be available, did you enter the Book Excursions portion of the website, by entering your booking number and last name?
The reason I ask is that I would think it very likely at least some excursions would be availabel by now for a November sailing. Our cabana was booked 10 months in advance.

I have been waiting for November Eurodam excursions to open also. I called and asked when they would and was told that the one woman who has this job was out on maternity leave, so things were a little backed up. He said it should be soon though.

The price for the cabana is for up to four people. There's an additional charge for each additional person.

If you just pay the listed price, they will give you snacks, beverages, and water toys for four people. That doesn't mean you can't invite others to share your cabana, but the goodies are only supposed to serve four, unless you pay for extra. Not a big deal unless you get the butler service, which comes with a full meal, which the extra person or people would not receive unless you paid for them. You only need to reserve one cabana for up to four people.
There is info on the ports of call board about where the various color cabanas are located. The end of the beach farthest from the tender dock is, of course, less crowded, but also farther away from the bars, food service, etc. Depends on your priorities which cabana location is "best," but you may want to check out which color is where before reserving.
Enjoy!!

We had the green (#10) cabana on our Zuiderdam cruise 02-09-08. Son and DIL got it, then we added four more folks as there were eight of us. When we got there the table was set for 8, and there was fruit, chips and dip, along with water, ice and sodas. We had three floats, and snorkle gear for four I think.
There is a new bathhouse right behind the Green Cabana which made it very convenient, we had two grandmothers and two little ones, also the dining pavillion was just a short walk.
It was our fourth visit to HMC, but our first cabana. I am now trying to figure out when I can get back there and have a cabana again. A truly wonderful day:)

Thanks for the info! We're sailing at Thanksgiving and I was wondering if I should call to inquire. Since this is our first cruise on HAL I thought I was just too early to book excursions.

Maybe this photo will help with the "color" question.

Keep checking the website for cabana availability because once they do become available, they won't lasts long. We got ours the second day they were listed and there were only 4 left.

It seems like I remember there being beach umbrellas with the cabanas in case you wanted shade on your "front porch". Am I just imagining that?

Perhaps you may be thinking of a Princess Cays Bungalow.

The Cabana's are $249.00 for up to four people. They list $45.00 extra per person for over four. The Butler upgrade is an additional $270.00 for four and $100.00 extra per person for over four.
Of course, this is the pricing for our upcoming trip, hopefully no increase before your sailing. We opted for the Cabana only, but I have read in previous posts over the last ten months that the butler service was worth every penny!

In Feb. 07, we had the turquoise bungalow and loved it. I want to reserve the bungalow for Feb.09.However, I can't seem to find it listed in the excursions brochure nor does the web page permit me to reserve any excursions yet. Does anyone know what the deal is?
Thanks.
