Oh my goodness, could this woman make up her mind???

After finding out I would not get a verandah cabin without the Alaska cruisetour option I decided to go with a cruisetour. Then I decided not to. Then I decided, what the heck, I will. Now I have decided to do cruise only depart/return to Vancouver (ie: not to). I know, I know, you're all hanging on the edge of your seats, just like my family!!

With the help of cruise critic posters I found out that I wanted port side for the southbound trip. I believe (and if the search thing worked I wouldn't have to reask, sorry) you said it didn't matter a whit on a return cruise.

Is that true or is there possibly a wee bit better side for the Glacier Bay Inside Passage?

Thank you for your patience!

From my experience, since the sailing is an inside passage, you will have land on both sides. SO i guess it doesn't matter which side.

For Glacier Bay, port side is recommended whether going NB or SB.

The search on the Alaska forum is working, just not the big search feature for the entire CC site.

I am travelling on the Volendam on June 15. This past week, they opened up many of the verandahs.

I guess you have decided to go on a round trip, so you can get the verandah for sure and rest easy?

I know how hard it is to decide. I was in that position last summer. However, after reading and reading and reading these boards, I came up with a trip I am very happy with. Don't rush into anything you can't change. Give yourself plenty of time to get it right.

Many, many thanks!

Because we are taking kids(teenagers) we do want to be sure- so round trip it will have to be. I want them close, but not too close. I want them separate, but not too separate. Close enough that I can pretend one of us is in the cabin with them and separate enough that I am not stepping on their shoes. 2 bathrooms are nice too!!

When we have gone by ourselves we let the guarentee God's choose for us and have been very lucky. You are quite right, take our time and not rush. I can't tell you how many times I have been asked why I am making these decisions for 2009 now!

I reserved an oceanview cabin for a May 2 Alaskan cruise. We have not yet been assigned a cabin number. I would like to upgrade that to an outside balcony cabin. How do I go about doing that? I have yet to speak to a person, everything has been done online. How do I contact a rep at Holland America?
