When we booked our upcoming cruise we were asked if we wanted an early or late dinner. My parents chose early and we chose late. If there are four times, how do we choose more specifically?

The available dining times are:
Lower Early-6:15
Lower Main- 8:30
Upper Early- 5:45
Upper Main- 8:00
Hope that helps.

Speak to your travel agent who can sort it all out for you.

Of course if you are sailing on the Prinsendam there are only the two seatings, the 6pm and the 8.15pm. That is the only HAL ship that hasn't changed.

Toad - you mean you aren't going to eat with your parents?

Maybe it's because they don't want to eat with him!! :)

The 8:30 dinner seating seems to be the least attractive. I suspect I would eat all my meals in the Lido or the Pinnacle if I was assigned the Main-Late time.

Good point - considering that his parents are in their 80's - they know him very well!

The Noordam hasn't changed either - perhaps because there is no upper & lower... :)

You are right - the Noordam and Prinsendam don't have 2 level dining rooms.

For us, 5:45 would be intolerable. My DH would not put up with dinner at 5:45.....no way!!!

Ok you guys take it easy on me!!!!! I am a she and not a HE! That is one.
Two, my parents are early birds and prefer the earlier dining and earlier to bed!
Three, since I haven't heard too many of you taking your parents along let me suggest that until you have done it, you don't knock the way we do it!
Fourth maybe one of the reasons we have such a good time together is because we don't have to spend every second of the day together!
And last but not least, my 80 year old parents are very romantic and would like to dine alone!

I don't think anyone meant any offense. I HAVE cruised with my parents (more than once) and we have also had seperate dining times... my parents want to eat early and we don't - simple as that. :)
My parents are in their late 70's and Dad simply can't wait til 8:15 pm to eat. We spend a great amount of time with them, but dinner is on our own. I might add that my children (especially my youngest) dine with them frequently. They enjoy having the kids at the table more than they would enjoy dining with us... ;) It also gives them a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with their grandchildren.

Try not to stress - the time you spend with them will mean so much - do what you are comfortable doing, it sounds like you are giving your parents the opportunity to spend quality time with each other.
I hope you have a great cruise - we love cruising with my parents, also with my MIL and her husband - they are memories to be cherished. :)

All that you say is true. We have traveled with my parents a lot, both when my two sons were younger and now when they are off on their own and still cruising with their own wives!

Maybe at some point your whole family will get together on a cruise - I tell you, those are our fondest memories... :)
