I am sure this has been covered. But, I was wondering if you can order anything off the dinner menu through room service. Thank You

Also you need to go down to the menu near the dining room sometime the day you order to look at the dinner offerings unless you are in a Suite. We have ordered a full meal in our "A" cabin this way. Generally those answering the call for room service haven't the time nor possibly the english skills to go through the entire menu with you.

We were told on the Zaandam that you had to place your order during the first 30 mins. the DR was open....5.45pm-6.15pm...now I am sure you could state what time you wanted it delivered to your cabin.....jean

On a recent cruise we decided not to go to the dining room for dinner after the VIP party but to order room service. When we called them, around 7:45pm (our dinner time started at 8:00pm) we were told we could not order from the dining room menu, only what was on the menu that is in the red binder on the desk. So, we ended up with soup and a sandwich. Jean is probably right - that is has to be ordered early.

That is truly a shame:( ! One of HAL's weak points in my opinion is the fact that they only offered casual dining most nights from 6-7:30pm. If you returned later than this, your only option would be a sandwich or such and to me that is not acceptable!
This is an area where HAL needs to get into line with their Princess sister's, which have far more extended times for dining. IMHO HAL should extend the casual dining time till at least 9:00 fleetwide, especially if they are going to tell clients (who, btw, have no way of knowing this as nothing is published about it) that they are unable to order their dinner from the Dining Room except between 5:45-6:15.
When we have stayed in a Suite, we have received a nightly menu, NEVER did it say you have to order between 5:45-6:15 or forgo an inroom meal from the dinner menu!!! Wake up HAL!!!!!!

Even RCCL provides the whole dinner menu in each cabin (not just suites). They have it separated into the "regular" room service 24-hr menu and then each meal (B-L-D) broken down by the days. No need to go look at the menu at the dinning room. Definately sounds like HAL needs to improve this.

If you had to- you could go to Lido deck ,get a tray and your meal and carry back to room. I do that all the time for hubby for breakfast. Then we eat on deck, he is spoiled but he is paying for the cabin so guess I have to earn my keep, ha ha

But you can't go to the Lido and bring items back from there for dinner. And the original poster wanted to know about dinner menus for the cabin.

On the Zuiderdam a few weeks ago, we didnt go to the dinning room for dinner a couple of nights, we went to the Lido and had most of the same menu at the Bristo, they even took our meat cooking preference and then delivered it to our table. Some people just waited for their orders and took it up to their room.

I think you probably could go to Lido and bring back a full dinner to your cabin. It would be something of a nuisance but why could you not request whatever main course you want be prepared for you while you go through the buffet part and choose your soup or salad or whatever?
The problem would be keeping the main course warm while you eat your appetizer or soup. And, the hours in Lido for dinner are limited.
