The projections of Frances' track make it look like she may be around southern Florida by next Saturday. (let's all pray she takes a northeastern turn away from any land) If she doesn't I'm wondering what the xruise lines do about getting ships in and out of ports. Does anyone know from past experience what happens? If a ship returns a day late what happens to passengers who were scheduled to go out on the day the ship didn't make it to port?

A few years ago when we were going on the Zaandam, we were worried about a storm coming into Lauderdale. We were fortunate and were able to get on the ship. I asked one of the girls, as we were checking in, what Hal would have done had the storm threatened Lauderdale. She said one year, one of the Hal ships was suppossed to be in port at 6am, but stayed out drifting around untill 9pm, then came into port when the seas were calmer. The people that were suppossed to board that day, just waited in port untill they could board around 11pm.

This is not good news, but the only thing I can say is that they were still able to board. Just hope no storm hits Lauderdale.

Good luck. Many storms take last minute turns and go away from the east coast of Florida. Before Hurricane Andrew Castro used to tell people that the US had a secret weapon to keep the storms away from the east coast of Florida.

Since this storm is menacing eastern Caribbean routes, Princess is moving its Caribbean Princess sailing today to a western Caribbean itinerary. The passengers found out once they arrived at the pier. Totally different ports (except for the private island ... visiting it first instead of the last day) but necessary to avoid the projected path of the storm.
