View Full Version : TEST... Can you see my new Avatar?
ekerr19
August 28th, 2004, 08:14 PM
I added a test picture of ekerr and ekerr19 (me :D ) and had some problems uploading the file...
I can see it - but can you?
I know there are several avatars on these boards that I cannot see - doone's for example, it is just a red X with the words "doones avatar"
I hope you can help - if I'm doing something wrong, I want to correct it. :)

Looks good here.
I wonder if srpilo sees any avatars. Some folks on dialup set their display option to not show avatars and signatures to make things load faster.

I actually like seeing every ones pictures. It makes it more personal. I have been active here in the HAL board for well over a year now and I feel like it is an extended family with having the love of cruising and HAL in common. I know there are some that will never post their picture and that is OK too but it is fun seeing what others look like that we have been chatting with.

That has been what prompted me to post this... I love seeing all of you and I agree, it's like an extended family - thank you! I think you guys look great too!

Heather - I only ask because when I loaded it I got an error message... I really just wanted to make sure I didn't screw up when I added it ... :o
Your picture is awesome and I want to share mine as well! Our "puppy" is nicknamed "boo-boo" (no relation to Boo's Mom, lol :D ) and she is our "baby" - a beautiful Siberian Husky - (we are complete animal lover's and we try to donate to all the local shelters )
I LOVE seeing pics of other animals (especially ones loved as yours :) ) posted on these boards.
I will post pics of my cats when I get a chance... our eldest cat passed away from cancer last Christmas - (she had been part of our family longer than our 16-yr. old son...) and while we still mourn & will never forget her, we adopted another... just can't seem to help ourselves with all the homeless animals in the area.... :)

I just wish the pictures were able to be a bit bigger, they are kind of hard to see. Plus I can't wait to take some new pictures I feel like a look fat:eek: . The picture of Tom and I was taken on the Oosterdam in May and since then I have lost another 14 pounds with a total of 46 pounds off since January. I guess I will wait till November when we get back from the Ryndam by then I hope to have lost another 12 more pounds and be at my goal.
You know would be a great idea for cruise critics to set up a page to post pictures of members for each board.
I think everyone looks great.

IMO, you look lovely. You and your DH present quite a nice picture. :)
As my DH says, "I still see you the same way as the day you agreed to marry me." To which I reply, "but I was at least 20 lbs. less than I am now"... his response, "So was I" :)
I can relate to you and I applaud you!!!! I know how hard it is to loose any kind of weight, especially after I hit 40...it just doesn't want to budge!!
I'm STILL trying to loose 10 lbs. before my driver's license and passport are renewed next year. :) Congratulations to you - keep us updated.

Lisa, that is amazing!!! Good for you! Congratulations from someone who knows how hard this is! Last year I lost 18 lbs before our cruise. I've gained 8 back and they're uglier than the ones I had before. I have to lose 10 before our next cruise in 2 months. Lucky I have cruises to lose for!!! But I've been playing the weight game since I was about 40 and so it will always go.
EKerr I love your story about your animals. We have a cat, Sammie (13), and then Molly (3), our Bichon (in the picture). They truly are the center of our lives now with just the 2 of us. DH didn't think we "needed" a dog and now he's worse than me:).
Does anyone know why some of the pictures are larger than others? I couldn't get mine any bigger. The screen kept saying I had too many pixels or some such thing. I'm not a pro at this stuff at all ... all self taught.
Anyway, I think everyone looks gorgeous!!! And it let's us know we're not ax murderers on the prowl:D

Heather, good question about the size of the picture. I just experimented until I got it to a size they would accept. That is all I know about mine being bigger.

elmorejj, it's really not hard. If I can do it, you can. First you have to have pictures on your computer. Then you have to save the picture you want as web-ready and custom size it to 80 x 80 pixels. If you have Microsoft Picture It! (which came with my computer) this is a simple step by step process. Then you go to your User CP here and click on "edit avatar". Then click "custom avatar". Down at the bottom there's a button to "browse" your pix. Click that, your pics pop up and you choose the pic you've saved and that's that!:)
I just did a new one that is ever so slightly different than my old one, but I think it's just a little bit larger. I love the pics of everyone!

Gretchen, I first thought it was a picture of you until I found out your name was Gretchen. Then I decided it was a picture of Kramer (as in Seinfeld):D
Who is it?
P.S. I have a new avatar. How do you like it?

Bingo, yes I am a huge Seinfeld fan. Your pix is great, what a cute patootie Molly is. My DH and I don't photograph well so you won't see a picture of us!

Us, too, Gretchen! DH still hardly ever misses a rerun. Funniest part is he keeps saying it's one he'd never seen :)
