What kind of shops do they have on Half Moon Cay? Are there some shops where you can get authentic bahemian crafts? I remember last time when I was at the straw market in Nassau it seemed like almost everything was made in China. Would really like to find a place to buy some authentic crafts.

Thanks!!

While Half Moon Cay Is A Beautiful Beach And Recreational Area It Is Not A Shopping Mecca. They Have A Souvenir Shop With The Usual T-shirts, Post Cards And The Like. There Is A Hair Braiding Stand And Three Other Stands That Sell Some Local Items But Really Not A Big Selection. But If You Are A Beach Person You Will Love Half Moon Cay.

They have a very small area that sells things found in a Straw Market. A few straw baskets, straw handbags.....odds and ends of Bahamian craft type things.

One time when we were there, one booth sold some jars of what looked like jellies.

Very, very few crafts for sell.

This is a beach island - fun in the sun.

There is one gift shop that is run by the "Shops onboard' staff from the ship. You will use your ship's card to pay for items just as though you were aboard.
The selection is limited but some items like suntan lotion and post cards are available. Also, t-shirts. This shop closed after lunch when we were there in March (Oosterdam). I suggest that you do your shopping when you first arrive at the island for the shop may be closed by the time you are ready to leave.

At the hair braiding station, some local ladies were selling baskets and jewelry. I think the items were hand made, but who can tell for sure.
