Hello fellow cruisers. (Re Azamara Journey 6/13 from Copenhagen.)

My wife and I have been studying the best way to explore St Petersburg. We have found a highly recommended comnpany, DenRus tours.
They offer either a Custom tour or a set, Value tour.
Advantages to a Custom tour - just 4 of us, in a private vehicle, and we can add stops for shopping, our own choice of restaurants, etc, without having to buy a Russian visa. More personal experience, we believe.

Cost:The Value tour, with up to 30 people, is $399 each for 3 days.
The Custom tour, for 4 people, is $456 each-$699 each if only 2 go!

Now you know why we want to find another couple to go with us.

By all means, try going to the Roll Call section and see if you can't hook up with someone from your ship.

We did a similar tour (but with Red October) when we were there on the Celebrity, and it was much nicer than the ship tour.

We did a wonderful two-day tour with Alla-Tour and our guide Julia. She was very knowledgeable and accomodating. One advantage over the other tour companies is that Alla does not require a deposit. Like a good old American handshake, once you confirm arrangements via email, no funds are required until the morning of the second day of the tour. Yes, it's true.
