A first for me--HAL emails me with price reduction

Last week I booked the Zuiderdam July 19 Med cruise directly with HAL over the phone. Yesterday a representative emailed me and told me to call them because they had reduced the price on our cruise. I was suspicious because this has never happened before. I called, though, and sure enough they had reduced the price of our cruise by $300/person. I was thrilled to receive a credit of $600.

I have received price reductions before, but only after I had found them myself online, and called the cruiseline, or had my TA call on my behalf.

This is my first experience with HAL. I've cruise Celebrity, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean. Is this typical of their customer service? If so, I am very impressed.

I don't believe this is typical. But good for you! That's really a nice reduction in price. It will be interesting to see if anyone else has had this happen to them as well.

In our experience, yes, we do get this kind of customer service with our PCC at HAL. Perhaps they set you up with a PCC? If not, that really IS great service from a HAL "rep"!

When HAL had their 3 day sale earlier this month, my sister-in-law got an email from HAL, but not us. We were able to get a good reduction, but she ended up keeping what she had. As a single she would have had to give up a room in a good location for a guarentee. She would have saved a little over $100. On the other hand, we saved $400 on our cabin by going to a guarentee. And we went from an inside to a guarenteed unobstructed oceanview.
