If you have your heart set on a particular hotel, don't use Priceline. There is no qay to pick or be selective, other than the general location and the general quality level. I've always been treated very well bidding 3 or 4 stars, except one property out west, but you can't go into it thinking you'll end up in a specific hotel.

You can look at Hotwire and see what they offer. You'll pay more than through Priceline, but on the ammenity icons, if it says suite and is (?2.5*?)=Ameriasuites, (??3.5*)= Embassysuites.

I've used Priceline several times for hotels in Miami. I bid downtown and three stars. That includes Doubletree, Sheraton, Hyatt and the like. Usually about $45 for any of them unless you boolk 6 - 8 months early when you you will likely pay more. Friends have had the Hyatt for as little as $27.

Go to either betterbidding.com or biddingfortravel.com. Both sites are for people to share the hotels being used by priceline and hotwire. For example- click on Miami on the hotwire board and there will be posts like- "Just got downtown Miami for $75- the Radisson, icons are restaurant, pool, exercise room." Then, when you go to hotwire and an offer comes up with similar price and icons, you can be reasonably (but not totally) sure what hotel it is.
I just got rooms at the Renaissance FLL for $75 through priceline, calling the hotel the best offer was $189. I use both services fairly often and have never been disappointed when I do a little homework on the websites listed above. Good luck!
