I prefer sparkling water with my dinner. Is that purchased by the bottle or glass? If my glass, is it included with the soda card? Thanks much.

It is purchased by the bottle. And it is not included in the soda card.

And all they have are the little single-serving bottles of Perrier. I much prefer San Pellegrino or sparkling Voss, but no such luck.

I know that it's not sparkling water, but if you want "gassy water" that you can use your soda card on, order club soda from the bar. The bar staff rings up club soda just like all the other sodas. :)

When I first read your post title, all I could think of was a swamp in the Louisiana bayou! :D

Gassy water - I've never heard it referred to as such. I thought you were going to say the water onboard smelled of gas (we had that happen in our city a couple of years ago due to a gas-line break).

I believe if you would like to ask for the different waters, the waiters use the terms "Still" or "Sparkling". I'll try the gassy water next time, to see if they know what I'm talking about!

Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

Apparently they do in South America too (At least in Chile) as I found out recently when we were in Punta Arenas. I took the tour to Torres Del Paines which required a short chartered flight. Since we left so early there was no one in the Queens Lounge selling water like normal so when we got to the airport they gave us a few minutes to get some. One of the other women on the tour and I went down to the one place open and finally were able to get 2 bottles of water (took some making change between ourselves and hand signals to the girl at the counter that didn't speak much English and then waiting as she filled out some paperwork for getting American money and she was short 100 pesos in our change which we really didn't care about at that point). Anyway we then had to hurry to get on the planes. Right after we took off I decided to open my bottle for a sip and it pretty much exploded over me. Apparently the other women was 2 rows behind me and had handed it up to her husband who also had it explode. At lunch in the park they gave us a choice of Water with and without gas so that's when we figured out what had happened. I know I'll always check in the future to make sure there's no gas in my water bottle.

If you really MUST have it, you can bring your own. You can bring your own wine, too, for that matter - but for that, you have to pay corkage if you drink it in the DR. I don't think they'd charge corkage for your "gassy water"!:)

We could not get it on the Westerdam. Choices are club soda or Perrier-they are not the same. They did not really understand what I was requesting. Have not seen it on Princess, RCI or Celebrity. My guess is that you can get it on the European runs or on Costa/MSC.

I've never had a problem getting San Pellegrino - just had it on the Zaandam (Hawai'i), had it on the Volendam (Caribbean/Panama Canal) in November as well. I'm usually the only one at table ordering it - the wine steward caps it and I have the remainder (still "gassy" :D ) the next evening.

It was interesting in Europe being asked when ordering water... if we wanted it with or without gas. :)
