... to disembark/re-embark at ports of call? For instance, when the schedule says we have 7 am to 1 pm at Ketchikan, what time will we actually be on the dock (assuming we're ready to go at 7 am) and what time will we need to line up again to get back on?

When the sign says, "Pax all aboard at 1:00 pm," you better have your cute little bod inside the ship at 12:59. I usually get back no later than 15 minutes before the time listed. Even then, I get a bit antsy.

We usually allow 30 to 60 min buffer to get back to the ship. It mainly depends on how far we are venturing out. We we are venturing out where we are a couple of hours away then we need to leave leeway. If we are just getting off the ship and wandering over to the beach then we do not need as much a buffer getting back.

Ketchikan 7 AM to 1 PM --- the ship should arrive before 7 AM and be secured by that time. Passengers will be allowed to leave the ship shortly after that.
If the schedule indicates that the ship is to leave at 1 PM -- that means that all passengers should be on the ship by 12:30.

Usually (but not always) when a schedule says "7:00 am" the ship will be all tied up by 6:30 and you can be off the ship by 7:10. Sometimes, however, winds or mechanical problems will delay arrival by an hour or two!

We like to reboard at least an hour ahead of time to avoid the last-minute line-up.

Don't cut the time too close for departure. I've seen too many people running to the ship as it sailed away.

Thanks! I think I would be very nervous if we cut it too close!

That could lead to a very sinking feeling in the pit of your wallet, among other places.
