How did you choose your name for the cruise critic board?

For example, we chose Krazy Kruizers as our name as we old people are just crazy about cruising.

stillfrantic.....was alwaysfrantic, but the new boards disowned me, and I had to pick a new name. The frantic fits, especially this week. Am supposed to sail on Saturday.....thanks, Frances:confused:

When I first signed on to CC.....many years ago when you had to subscribe to AOL to be able to post, I didn`t understand message boards very well so used our email addy. If I registered now, I probably would pick a different name.....jean

Having been a creative writer all my life, I missed out this time. Also, I don't care for "board names" and decided on my first name + family name initial. I use that on all boards, except for two where I use my IRL name in full.

Good one, KK! If I could do it again I would change mine to SailAway! But when I registered I had no clue the kind of names everyone used so I used something very similar to my email address. In a way it's good because it does say something about me, i.e. my name and where I live;) , but it's awfully boring.

777Steve ...

Steve is me. 777 because I loved my job as Purser onboard the Boeing 777 (that was my favorite airplane to work) and also 777 because that's what I like to see on the slots!!:D

I have no idea!

My husband started using ekerr19 as our password when we got our first pentium computer back in the early 1990's.

"e" is the inital for his first name, kerr is our last name and I don't know where he got the 19 from - for sure, not an age he'd ever want to be again... :D

thulewx

I live on Thule Air Base (pronounced TOOLEE) and work in weather (military acronym "WX") = Thulewx :D
(besides, "StudMuffin" was already taken and there's some silly law about truth in advertising  )

August 31st, 2004, 11:47 AM
Well my name is Lindsay and the x's on both sides of my name are to represent a straight edge way of life. That means no smoking, drinking or drugs. No, it's not a cult, just a way of life.

KK- good question, I have always wondered where some members got their user names from.

DH and you look great.

BUT - what is that blob in the upper right hand corner of the profile sheet?

Anyone who met me last week on the Zuiderdam can answer that, but I dive dive dive all day long when I'm on vacation. IMHO no better place to be than under the water.

Well ... let's see ... I had to really strain to get the creative juices flowing for this one. My "main" name is my first name initial and last name. My signature is the really far-out one. I'm Jim and I live in Las Vegas. :D Maybe I should have hired an image consultant before I signed onto this board.

My called me Tatka when I was little kid...

I was thinking about using my nick from the other boards (specially hockey) BruinsGirl but thought it won't be appropriate here. ;)

August 31st, 2004, 01:12 PM
I just joined yesterday after learning about this site from someone else on the Norweigan Dawn. My name... well, I usually would rather hang out with the crew, because they're always from different countries, and I find that fascinating. And I always have to be participating in everything, so it's easier when you know the staff, hosts, cruise directors, etc. So that's why I call myself Crew Groupie! :D Because I hang with the crew!

My handle is one I've used for years, because of my decades as a breeder and exhibitor of championship cats, all of the "slinky" variety, including Siamese and Oriental Shorthairs.

We are new to the boards and fairly new to cruising with 2 Disney (2002 & 2004), our first HAL on the Zuiderdam booked for Oct. 2, 2004... and a Dawn Princess booked for Nov 2004...

I must say I am now hooked on cruising... and I am hooked on these boards... We chose ours because that is why we choose to cruise... 4 the fun of it all...:)

777steve... I totally agree with you... I am currently a purser on the 777 and it is also my favorite A/C ever... The DC-10-10 is a close second (nothing like working that lower lobe galley... ahhhh the memories)...

It's my name! Guess I'm just too dull and boring to think of anything more exciting.
Yup, that's me: dull and boring. ;)

August 31st, 2004, 01:54 PM
Ryan is my grandson and he calls me Memom. That equals Ryansmemom. Now, I have my new little Emily so I wish I could change it to: RyEmsMemom. I am thinking of changing my email address to that.

That's really weird! I just looked at it. That's an old pic of Molly and me (my Bichon). It's my old avatar, but I have no idea how it got there! I have to see if I can fix it.

You should be seeing my avatar on the post.

i live right near anaheim.... and i am a huge fan of the mighty ducks of anaheim. ... so i came up with the name jstducky... which is "just ducky" without the "u" in the word "just"!

How did you choose your name for the cruise critic board?
I normally use first initial + last name (dkearns) but - surprisingly - that was taken! so I went with initials (DAK) and a mis-spelling of cruiser (KREWSER) to come up with dakrewser. It can also be seen as "Da Krewser", which the young folk tell me is an "urbanized" form of "the cruiser". Live and learn!:D

Well, true. But it is funny that I just looked at the picture and see it looks like Ray has no hair!:D Actually he does, but it's blonde and very fine. But no way he's bald.

So what's under your hat, Dave;) ?

ger_77
August 31st, 2004, 08:13 PM
My board name is not that original - ger for my first name ... Gerry, and 77 for the year I married the most wonderful man in the world. ger_77 The three smiley faces in my signature are for my husband, our son, and me!

Smooth Sailing!:) :) :)

Sierrachik
August 31st, 2004, 08:17 PM
Sierrachik came from AOL when it had a maximum of 10 letters for screennames. Sierra because that is the kind of truck I drive, and chik because I'm female. Sierrachic was already taken and Sierrachick was too many letters but Sierrachik was available. Use it for most bulletin boards, etc. Easier to remember just one user name. Alas, very boring, LOL :)

bobpatj came along from the aol board. We couldn't think of anything cleverer.

I have to keep track of way too many pass words at work....wanted to keep things simple and just used my name. All message boards, groups, etc. that I join I always use my name. Guess by the time I come home from work I'm just too tired to be creative!

Twenty-seven years in the United States Navy, retired with the rank of Captain. It's not SOP to call a Captain by his first name (or nickname), but when I returned home from seven months in the Persian Gulf in 1991, my friends had a sign erected that said "Welcome Home, Captain Larry." I liked it.

MISSYLOU
August 31st, 2004, 11:46 PM
Well when I first registered I wasn't very creative and I looked down and there was my little dog "MissyLou" at my feet where she is now. So MissyLou it is.

We are empty-nesters, so the name is self-explanatory. DH never posts on CC, but we always cruise together since I introduced him to cruising in 1995.

It was an accident! I thought I had to give a "username" like I do on other sites first and then I would get to choose a "handle".

My husband and I both like to travel and do so as often as we can. So I thought that this name pretty much said it all. (Besides, the other 4 names I tried were taken!)

Ruth, you dull and boring. No Way, at least not on a cruise and I can vouch for that. My name longtimecruiser comes from the fact that I have been cruising for a long time. Since I was ten on Hal, four for my first cruise.

I use the name I use here for lots of internet sites.

I wanted to use Ramblin Rose, name of a newspaper column I have written for years. But that was taken on the first site I tried it. So I stuck my first name Jo, in front of it and cut it down to JoRamRose.

I use it for an e-mail address on some servers, and for passwords on others.
