We were waitlisted for Upper Main dining(8pm) on the Zuiderdam for our upcoming cruise, and I just called the TA, and she called HAL and said we are now confirmed for upper main, which is what we wanted. When I asked her if she requested a table for 8 like I had mentioned to her, she said it wouldn't do any good to put in a request like that...
On the Maasdam, we got the exact table we asked for, no problem. So why would she say that it does no good to make a request? Has something changed in the last year? We are not even asking for a specific table this time...
BTW, do Suite pax get preferential status when choosing dining otions?
Just curious...
Thanks, Melody

Melody, Your TA is mistaken. She should be forwarding your request for a table for eight if that is what you wish. It is never guaranteed to anyone (including Suite pax) that they will be assigned to the size table in the location they wish but Suite pax are promised the dining TIME they desire.
Your TA may not know that HAL tries to accomodate all requests the best they are able. Of course they cannot always give everyone what they want.

Nothing has changed in the past year and I don't know why your TA told you it would do no good to request a table for 8.
Yes, PH and S pax get preferential status for dining requests.

Thanks very much for the information...I was puzzled at her response as well.
I wonder if I should call HAL myself and make the request, instead of arguing the issue with the TA?

Of course you should.

Oh, go ahead and argue with the TA unless it's terribly inconvenient for you. Your TA needs to know---and do---her job. That's what she's getting paid for.

Could it be that the reason you went from being waitlisted to a confirm 8 PM seating is because they moved you to a smaller table? It may be that if you keep on insisting for a table for 8 you won't get the 8 PM dinner time.

Good point, KK. That may be the reason they got the 8 P.M. but I still think their TA should be trying to get them exactly what they want. It is not accurate for her to say HAL does not take requests. We know they do.

The TA could always waitlist them for the table they want too, if it is not currently available.
I agree, their TA should be trying to get them what they want - HAL will take requests, we've done it numerous times. :)
