Last week on one of the threads a few people posted hints as to how to make some familiar keyboard symbols that no longer appear on standard computer keyboards...like the cents sign, degree sign, etc. There was also a web address (a .edu, I think) given for a more complete list. I neglected to write down the info as it was late and I was tired. After being away from home Sat. thru Mon. I am having no luck trying to find the thread. I can remember that S7S tried one of the hints and it did work.
Can someone lead me in the right direction, please?

Gretchen, I like that one even better! Thanks:) . Actually I don't tend to use too many of the ones at the first site.
2ofUs, it was me who was so excited to find out how to type the "cents" sign (which I can't locate now;) ). But I'm flattered that you got me mixed up with Sail:D !

Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Character Map.
This Character Map tells you how to type all these various characters.
I'm still running Windows98se. It should be the same or similar in all systems.
Right now it's 102º on my porch - degrees: (while holding down the Alt key, press 167).
Whew. Here's a few more that I saved.
While holding down the Alt key, hit the numbers indicated, then release. Voilà!
alt 155 = ¢
alt 156 = £
alt 133 =à
alt 164 = ñ
alt 167 = º
alt 171 = ½
alt 172 = ¼
alt 0182 = ¶
alt 0176 = °
alt 0190 = ¾
alt 0215 = ×
alt 0247 = ÷
alt 0241 =ñ
alt 0233 = é
alt 0180 = ´
alt 0225 = á
alt 0162 ¢
alt 0232 è
