She already has the Pinnacle Grill and the Neptune Lounge - so she will undergo some routine maintence and other "cleaning up" items - new carpenting, etc.

As far as the new mattresses. etc. HAl started with the top categories and is working down to the lowest categories to get everything replaced. Not knowning what category you will be in - can't say if your cabin will have the new mattresses.

Don`t know about the Volendam, but the Zaandam was in wet dock in April and had most of the SOE upgrades put in place. She will go into dry dock in Jan. to get the rest of the updates done.....jean

From A May 20, 2004, HAL Press Release

New Amenities in Every Stateroom*

Staterooms now feature elegant touches such as a complimentary fresh fruit basket to welcome every guest and stainless steel ice buckets and serving trays for use with in-cabin beverages. Additionally, guests enjoy deluxe cotton and terry bathrobes and premium massage shower heads in every bathroom.****

All staterooms aboard the ms Zaandam and the ms Volendam have been outfitted with premium plush Euro-top mattresses and new, high-quality white cotton bed linens.* Holland America Line is on schedule to outfit other ships with the new mattresses and bed linens by fall of 2005.

So ... both the Zaandam AND the Volendam have the new mattresses. :) I'm happy! :)

With the new mattresses, will you now have sweet dreams? I hope so and have a great cruise later this month on the Zaandam.
