Greetings,

I just booked the Turquoise Cabin on HMC for the December 4, 2004 Zuiderdam cruise. Thanks to all of your postings here, I knew exactly what I wanted when I called ship services. The HA agent was pushing the butler package, but I requested only the unlimited beverage package which I've seen chatted about on here. From a few postings, I have seen the beverage package include beers, rum punch and sodas at $29.90 for two people. When I asked for this with the cabana, the agent said that there wasn't such a package and continued to push the butler package. She said the only beverage package was on the ship, not the cabanas. Is there someone who's traveled recently to HMC that can offer some insight to this? Should I call back, speak to another agent and see if I can get this beverage package added to the already purchased cabana? Thanks for any information you can share.

The beverage pachages for HMC can only be booked through shore excursions once you get on the ship. There will be a shore excursion form in your cabin listing the price of the rum/soda/etc. package.

Hey Krazy Kruisers...thanks so much for the info. That makes good sense now as to why the agent didn't know about it. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. I'm just grateful to have the cabana booked and waiting for my arrival in December.

I have wondered if the drink packages are worth it when you have some drinks provided. I would be the only one drinking (rum punch) and Im not sure it would be worth it in this case.

Any thoughts from those that have been there and done that?

the cabana comes with 12 soft drinks (4 cokes, 4 diet cokes, and 4 sprite), and 4 waters. Your cabana guy will let you trade diet for reg or visa versa, or orange soda. So if you are planning on only having a few drinks it will be cheaper to purchase them seperatly, unless there are alot of you drinking, think it over :)

Yes I think that the reality of me drinking that much rum punch is rather slim so I will just buy what ever drinks I want beyond what is provided.

Thanks Ziggy....helpful as usual~

We just returned a few weeks ago from the Zuiderdam. We had the blue cabana. I was shocked when we opened the cooler. Only ONE soft drink and ONE water per person. 4 people max.
When I protested they said to get another soda I needed to pull out the cruise card and charge it !
I complained the the lady in the Neptune longe who is suppose to help you, but she agreed. That is all you get.
It seems like they not only raised the price of the cabanas but also cut back on the drinks.

Woah.... now that is a huge difference and I know that Ziggy sailed very recently as well. I often wonder about the very different experiences people have and how that can be. I know on HAL's website it stated that drinks would be provided and I do not think one soda and water is providing enough for a day at the beach. At 219.00 for the cabana I am really surprised that they would make such a cutback. If that is indeed what has happened.

We had the Green Cabana (second from last) in July and I have to say we did the Butler; and considering all of the silly stuff you can spend money on it was the best thing we did on our trip. The food and beverage manager will come to your cabin a day or two before you go to HMC; he will give you lots of options for your lunch. We had lobster rolls as an app. then had a salad, then had filet mignon and then had four wonderful desserts :)

This also included any beverage we wanted. We asked for Corona (which they do not have on HMC at the bar) so they loaded it into the cooler and there it was. I also wanted Pina Coladas and he would run and get them for us. They also did some champagne for us, which was very nice. All included in the price.

The Butler shows up at your cabin, takes all of your bags and walks to through the crowds gets you on the tender and drives you to your cabana. The cabana comes with floats and snorkel gear (with/without butler service) We stayed in the water much of the day and he would carry our drinks out to us in the water so we would not have to get out :)

Okay I know all of this sounds a bit decadent but it was our vacation and like I said the best money we have ever spent! I would not go to HMC without a cabana or our wonderful butler.

Enjoy your cruise which ever way you go :)

This is strange...I have rented a cabana on my last two cruises, one with the unlimited drink package and one without but BOTH without the butler. I didn't have anyone come to my cabin to pick me up but once I was at HMC, someone from the ship was there to take my bags and drive me to my cabana. Klaus, one of the higher-ups in the Hotel Dept was doing this in July and a guy named Peter (also wearing the white uniform but without any shoulder bars) was escorting me in August. Have to wonder if this is standard and if it is, then the butler package really isn't necessary in my eyes. Actually my cabana boy last week told me not to bother with it. :)

Correct Klaus is wonderful, he checked in on us throughout the day and was the one who took our lunch orders.

I guess it is a matter of opinion; weather or not to spend the extra money. I certainly think it was worth the price. Plus if you can share your cabana with another couple its only half the price.

It is slightly off topic but in beach bar...after 1:30 PM all drinks are half price.:)

Where is "Beach Bar"? Is it on HMC? Half price drinks is right up my alley.
