We will be on the Maasdam in August & we prefer to eat our meals in the dining room rather than the buffet. Does anyone know if the dining room is open for lunch on embarkation day? Also, is the dining room open for lunch on port and sea days? If so, what are the hours? :)

On our Canada/New England cruises on the Maasdam last August the dining room was not open on embarkation day. In fact we have yet to be on any HAL ship where the dining room was open on embarkation and we have been on quite a different ships.
There were will be some port days when the dining room will not be open for lunch -- the daily program has this information.

My experience on the Maasdam ... nope. Not open on embarkation day. Nothing wrong with the Lido. If the environment bugs you, take your tray to your cabin.

We were told the dining room wouldn't be open on the Noordam on embarkation day, so we didn't even try to go, but others on our cruise went and indeed it was open. It can't hurt to try.

The MS Oosterdam last Nov offered lunch in the Vista Dining Room on embarkation day. We found about it by just touring the ship as no one had mentioned that there was an option other than the Lido and Terrace Grill.

Yes, indeed, it was open on embarkation day...we had a lovely lunch there.
