Cruising on the Eurodam on 11/22 out of FLL but flights from NYC to FLL are $600 that week. Flying to MIA instead drops price in half. Has anyone flown into MIA and taken taxi/van (6 in my group) to pier in Fort Lauderdale? If so, how long does it take and approx. how much?

Google "airport shuttle MIA FLL" and you will get some names.
Should take 35-45 minutes, depending on traffic. The seaport (Port Everglades) is less than ten minutes from the FLL airport.

I have used FloridaLimo several times. You can find them on the internet. If you check the east coast departure boards you will see a lot of recommendations for them. We had a private sedan for the 4 of us and I believe the cost was $68. each way. They were there waiting for us when we got off the ship.

We did this a couple of years ago and we rented a car at MIA and drove to FLL airort dropped off the car and then took the shuttle to the seaport. We rented the car for like $30.00 for the day. It was easier then we thought.

$600 per person? It sounds like a lot. I checked JetBlue but it won't accept dates in November yet (strange), for October its fares for similar dates are about $200 pp.

We always fly JetBlue to FLL, either out of La Guardia or JFK.

No discounts for Thanksgiving Week on JetBlue. Even a discount airline like Spirit wants $284 each way at this point. This will be my 7thThanksgiving cruise and I have never had a problem getting a decent price for air but this year American Airlines is giving up the JFK/FLL service at the end of Oct and Delta is holding prices firm for now, fuel prices are TOO high.

Yep, I saw that it was the Thanksgiving weekend. Check back with JetBlue when they open up November for bookings, though. I noticed a few months ago that American has cut back a lot on flights from NYC to FLL.

Use HA ground transportation. It only costs about $15.00 for each adult.
You don't have to worry about returning rental car and is very convenient.

My guess is: Holland America ground transportation.

Thanks! Since we fly in 2 days early with our own hotel accommodations, that would not work for us. It might be okay if we flew in the day of on HAL-arranged air or had HAL-booked hotel, which is pretty pricey.

Taxis seem high (+/- $75) and the shuttles I've research seem to be about the same ... so we're thinking rental car for a day at slightly more than half the shuttle and taxi rates.

The reason I questioned Wilbo ... $15 didn't sound right for HAL's transfers MIA to FLL or Port Everglades. Some weeks ago I checked with HAL on Port Everglades to MIA airport ... and they quoted me $26 per person, one-way.

With 2 days in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale a rental car would be a good thing.

At this point, that seems to be the route we'll take pre-cruise. Afterwards, we'll likely take HAL's transfers to MIA as that is about the cost of a rental and way less than taxi or GO Shuttle, Super Shuttle and the like.

I called FloridaLimo and for six people you need a van and it is $165 to pier. Need to find a better deal.
