Hello,
My husband and I will be on the Rotterdam Euro Capitals cruise departing 5/26/08, cabin class C-EE.
HAL's site indicates that they provide soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. We are not finicky, and want to pack light, and would gladly use what they provide. So here's my question:
1. Does HAL in fact provide the above mentioned toiletries?
2. Do they provide them daily? (Meaning do you get enough to last you through the cruise, do they get replenished)
3. Are they so inferior no one would use them anyway?
Thanks for helping out a first-time cruiser.

Expensive Elemis products, which are also sold at the Spa. You also get facial soap amd moisterizer.
I love the sharp shower gel!

The grooming products are Elemis from the Spa. They are wonderful and are replenished as needed. Many here particularly like the Sharp Body Wash, and the shampoo. I find the conditioner a bit thick to get out of the bottle and prefer to use my own. It is a good conditioner though.

Yes, they provide those plus hair conditioner.
They will be replenished as needed.
They are Elemis products and are really quite good.
(Looks like all 3 of us were typing at the same time!) :)

I'm with you on the conditioner, kakalina. I don't recall seeing the Sharp Body Wash...Guess we'll have to just take another HAL cruise to enjoy that!

I really like the Elemis products but it's difficult to get the conditioner our of the bottle. I wish they'd provide bigger bottles that last for the entire cruise. We go through 3 or 4 little bottles of shampoo and conditioner each week. It would be so much cheaper and environmentally correct to have less waste.

So true! I'm sure they don't want to put out really large bottles because they'd have to discard any leftovers, but the ones they provide could be twice the size and there still wouldn't be much waste. Or they could switch to pump dispensers - I know some folks feel those are tacky, but the truth is that they are much more environmentally sound. If the reservoir isn't too large and is cleaned periodically, the product inside will be perfectly fresh and usable.
To the OP: I agree with all the posts that say the products are very nice. If you have trouble with the thickness of the conditioner, add a little water and turn the bottle upside down. If your steward doesn't replenish your supplies (unlikely), just remind him. Enjoy your cruise!

Hahaah! Flimsiest pretext for taking a cruise ever! I love it. :D We should start another thread on that... "I booked another HAL cruise because I just can't get enough of..."

good to know about the conditioner, on our last cruise (Carnival) it wasn't provided and they ran out in the gift shop, I had to wait to buy some at our first port of call because I didn't pack any. My hair was awful for a couple days!

The shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand lotion -- all come in 2 ounce size bottles.
The conditioner -- forget it -- extremely hard to get out of that tiny bottle!!
JMO - we do not like the new Elemis products. DH takes a lot of medications and whatever is in the Elemis products, he has had a reation to them. I have also found that the hand soap provided dries out my hands -- and I don't take any medications except Nexium.
So now we have no choice but to take our own soaps, etc.

If you take a shower in the spa (we took most of ours there:D ) they have the big bottles with the pumps. Much easier than the little bottles.

This is cool news. I would usually bring my own, but using this will allow me to save weight in the luggage! (more room for shoes....)

HAL first introduced the Elemis products when Noordam joined the fleet. We love them and look forward to using them on the ships. I love the bath soap and find it nicely moisturizing. The face soap is like a glycerine. As stated, your steward will replace emptied bottles as needed. If he fails to notice you need more, just ask.

I agree that the conditioner is thick, but the bottle is soft enough that you can squeeze it to get the conditioner out the first time, then add a bit of water to thin it down so it flows more easily. All the products are excellent, IMO.

I will rely on the HAL supplied products, they sound great for me and Gene!
Thanks again,
