Been trying to get through to Disney with no avail - maybe someone here can help??
My sister & co are out on the Magic from Canaveral 8/28 - I can't find my copy of the intinerary and can't figure out if I should be panicing about loved ones being tossed around at sea!
We got an email saying they might be diverted to a different Port for their return - where would they be diverted to and how would they get back to Canaveral (and when!)
Does anyone have any thoughts on whther I should begin to panic or just have a complete meltdown..... (I have someone else I am trying ot get out of FL - her flight is late Fri and she's not sure if the airport will still be open - the airport says no, the airline says yes....)

Disney will take all precautions necessary to assure passenger saftey. I have been following the threads on the DISboards and people who are on the Disney ships have been posting. It looks like the Magic will stay out at sea until Monday and the Wonder will be back to port on Monday also. Those with cruises starting this weekend will get a shorter cruise departing on Monday.

Well, I am on the Magic the 18th and it is an Eastern (sort of), so if you count every other week back then this week she should be doing a Western itinerary and out of harms way on the storm.
Did you read the hurricane update on the main Cruise Critic home page? That might give you info on their return.

so does that mean they are getting an extra day or two on the ship? I had thought they were back today or tomorrow...

Yes, the cruise will be extended to 9 days, according to the DCL website. The ship was scheduled to be at sea today and at Castaway Cay tomorrow (Friday), but it's unlikely that it will be anywhere near the Bahamas on Friday. I would guess that they'll stay in the Gulf and out of the way of the storm.
The current Wonder cruise, which left today, will be extended until Monday, too. I believe it is replacing the Nassau and Castaway Cay calls with a stop at Cozumel on Saturday.

They're fine. :) They are heading to GALVESTON, Texas for that extra day, to ride out the storm. They should be well out of the path of the storm there.

thanks for all the help - my mom sent word that they are going to Galveston to restock and then take everyone back to sea to wait it out, hopefully returning to Canaveral on Monday.
Every cruisers dream - your cruise is extended by 2 days for free!!

I saw that one of the Disney ship was in Port Everglades on the news yesterday and would be moved to Port Canaveral soon.
We were out to sea on the Caribbean Princess and had our voyage extended from Saturday to Monday...was great having those free extra days.
