We are taking a cruise from New York City to Canada this summer on Victory, and are thinking about driving to the port.

Since you can't make reservations in advance to park at the cruise terminal's parking lot, does anyone know if there are other long term parking options in the immediate area, in case the lot is full when we arrive to take our cruise?

Thanks in advance.

We've taken four cruises from Manhattan and parked each time at the pier. We've never had a problem finding parking - there's parking on each of piers 88, 90 and 92. The worst that happens is that you end up parking on a pier other than the one where your ship is docked (happened on our first Victory cruise). That just means a bit of a longer walk.

We try to arrive between 11 and 11:30. That gives plenty of time for the folks leaving to get their cars out of the lot, and still gets us on board in time for lunch and a drink of the day!:D

Since they opened the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, you probably will not have a problem finding a parking spot.

Thanks to everyone who responded. It is comforting to know that if we get there early enough that parking won't be a problem

YITTLES...

I am from Manorville. Sailing on the 5 day Victory to Canada on 08-23-08.
I am still trying to figure out my plans to the pier.
I may be able to have hubby drive to the pier but need to make arrangements for getting home.

Wondering how you were planning to handle this since you are from my area. I have to pick up Mom in Oakdale.

Hope to hear from you.

any parking in NYC is gonna cost a small fortune. but it may be less expensive than roundtrip bus or train tickets.. if you do a search online, you'll find many parking facillities, you may even be able to print out a discount coupon if one's being offered.. good luck!

Hi MonaCK :)

That is so true, and I know that from experience. I grew up on the North Shore of Long Island, lived in Manhattan for fifteen years, and now live in Connecticut.

Understand. Only missing the exit number. I still tell people Exit 54. I still check out my old house every now and then. What a change in the neighborhood. Lived there from 3 months (1963) until 1991.

I was quoted a town car prive from Oakdale to the pier at $204 one way.

It would still be cheaper to leave the car-IF I COULD EVER LEARN TO CITY DRIVE!!!

I read somewhere in these threads that it gets very busy to drop off due to the volume of cars and the one lane in and one lane out situation. Can anyone give more info on this???
