Hello Folks:
Does anyone know if HAL has Lactose Free milk on board?
If so, do you have to request it in advance of the cruise?
Thanks in advance for youe kind input.:)

Last year when we were on the Noordam, I had my TA "supposedly" put in a request for it. However, when we were onboard, there wasn't any. I also requested non-dairy creamer for my coffee and all they had were individual packets of Coffeemate. That was OK. Good luck. I would call your TA or HAL and ask them about the lactose free milk.

I use lactose free milk too but have never seen it on any of the ships we
have sailed on. did ask once but they said no, they didn't stock it.
You can get lactaid pills to add to milk but I found that they made the
milk taste very sweet.

I would try to request it in advance from customer service. They may or
may not bring it onboard for you. If they do you might have to pay for it.
We order distilled water for DH's CPAP machine and have to pay for it
when we order. they like a couple or so weeks notice before the cruise.

MY DD has a lactose intolerance. When we think of it, we BYOM, as we do when staying at a resort hotel.

My wife is lactose intolerant. Last Dec. on the Noordam, they had Silk Soy
in the Lido, also on the Oosterdam last month.

However, she always carries small cartons for use in hotels etc.

I am sooo lactose intolerant! Before a cruise, we go to Costco and get a box or two. I just keep popping the pills and never have problems. Even eat the ice cream sundaes.

Not sure if you're interested but you can readily get soy milk in the lido at the juice station if you ask the nice gentleman behind the counter for it. That might be where you can ask for the lactose free milk as well.

We always ask in advance to have lactose free skim milk on board. Our TA makes the request and on our first night the waiter/ assistant is made aware of the request and the milk appears each night. This is not soy. In the Lido the request seems to get loss. I guess it's because other passengers that haven't ordered the lactose milk ask for and use it, so half way through the cruise the Lido lactose milk is no more. Take care.

I too am lactose intolerant and I never looked back after finding this:

Its literally a life changing product for me. I take it everyday with other medications and don't have concern myself with whether or not I have lactaid pills handy when I want to enjoy diary. It works better for some than others, but its totally worth a shot. Follow the instructions if you try it.

I hope this helps someone (or two).

I'm lactose intolerant too, as is my MIL. She likes the lactose-free milk. I don't drink enough milk to warrant purchasing the special stuff, but did try it when staying with the in-laws. Didn't work. Should have stuck to the lactaid tablets.

For me, it's ALL dairy - cheese, yogurt, you name it. I don't go anywhere w/out my little tabs.

In the dining room, where they ask what cabin you are in, the kitchen can keep track of food & special requests. In the Lido, there is NO WAY to know who pre-ordered any special items. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet & no one has any idea who takes what.

If I might make a suggestion - if you have pre-ordered any items for special diets, take all of your meals in the dining room. There you have a much better chance of your special requests being available. :)
