New Cruiser

First time cruisers sailing on the Island Star this June. I understand if we want to eat in either The Steak House or Oasis restuarants my partner is going to have to wear trousers, instead of his usual shorts. But what trousers can he get away with? (formal trousers only, or combats/linen trousers):confused:

Any help would be gratefully received

The dress code is smart/casual so linen trousers, short sleeved shirt/polo shirt will be fine. :)

Also note that the Island restaurant also requires trousers to be worn for evening dinner and no vest tops! :p This is still buffet style and free but is a little more "up market" you wait to be seated and tables are set.
