I am trying to book a cruise on the Wonder for Feb. My question is which would you choose--a standard inside cabin on Deck 6 or a deluxe inside cabin on deck 2? I am traveling with a family of 4 (kids ages 4 & 8). The price difference is minimal $73. Thanks in advance for your input.

I'd take the Deluxe just to get the split bathroom, REALLY convenient for a family of four. :)

The deluxe, but scour the various web sites and perhaps you can get an outside cabin. I would feel sooooo cramped with an inside cabin. Claustrophobic I am!

Category 9 cabins seem to be the best deal - they are outside on decks 1 and 2, have the split bathrooms, and are usually not much more in price than the Category 10 insides.

Don't know about in Feb what the cruise season is like, but we booked an outside gty (Category 9 price) and they bumped us up to a Category 6 - woo hoo, we got a balcony!!!!

Inside cabins are nice if you want to sleep until noon - they get so dark! But I like at least having a window and I think your kids will too.

We have a catagory 6 veranda also-we could have booked a catagory 7 navigator's veranda but the TA said it wasn't a real veranda more like an outside cabin. I did not understand that. Anyone here ever stayed in a catagory 7? Just wondering if it would really be that terrible. It would have save us I think $200 if we had booked that instead. I would just like it explained to me exactally what a navigator's veranda is.

If you check out www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-staterooms.htm.

They say "There is little noticeable difference between cat 7's and the cat 5 and 6's. The biggest one to point out is the verandah. While it is the same size, it is enclosed with a very large, open air porthole to look through" and they have pictures of it.

castawayclub.com also has photos of them and outlines what a Secret Porthole Room is as well. (Outside cabin for the price of an inside)

I saw it on the Disney DVD they sent but it still does not make sense to me- I guess the advantage would be if you have a small child you would not worry so much. Has anyone stayed in this stateroom was it still nice for seeing the ocean?

I haven't stayed in one but have definitely seen them. They are basically totally enclosed verandahs with an open window. There is a bench and a stationery wooden table.

It's definitely a different "feel" from the regular verandahs, much more enclosed than open. It is NOT good for seeing the ocean, as you would have to stand up and look out the porthole window. The regular verandahs (that are not totally aft) have clear plexiglass from the railing down, so you can see the ocean while seated.

As for the child issue, ALL of the doors leading to the verandah have very secure and very high child locks, so there is no way a child could get out there on his/her own. :)
