My category H guarantee got me a category D upgrade. Got cabin 420.
Funny thing is I was studying the ship plans and thought I would like to be assigned one of the cabins at the back on the Lower Promenade. And voila, I was!

I'd say be careful what you wish for, but it seems to have worked for you. Congrats!

Sean - I LOVED being on the lower promenade deck. That will be my deck of choice for future cruises on HAL. I was in room 314, and another CC friend was in room 413, and she had no complaints. You got a wonderful assignment!

I think so too.....it has great access to the deck in 2 directions and it looks out the back of the ship. I remember sitting on one of the benches on the promenade back there and watching a beautiful sunset with my Mom . It is protected somewhat from the wind so a great spot to be as the ship moves along.

Great Lois....I was going to ask you if you got yours yet. Can't tell you if that is a good one or not....I am not at all familiar with the Z deckplan.

MarieActually Marie, I have a 300 mm lense for my camera which is great for drawing in distant objects and wildlife. They make great "binoculars".....:) I will probably leave the binoculars at home to have one less thing to carry.

Sean:
I'm taking my 72 year old Mom on the Veendam on the 19th. I've been cruising these boards since I booked it in Feb and this is the first person I've seen that is also booked. I'm getting so excited. We have a Balcony which I'm looking forward to since Mom is not in great health, so I'm not sure how she will feel. Maybe we'll bump into each other.

Hey lets not just bump into each other....lets meet!
I caregive my Mom, so I understand. She cruised with me up until a a year or so ago. She will be 91 in November.
So where do you want to meet?
Maybe the Crows Nest at sailaway? Or if the weathers nice outside on the upper deck?
