The DW and I spend a nice day last week on this tour thru RCI, while sailing on the Explorer of the Seas....:) We were among the first to board the bus, as we had seen a long line from our balcony, only to find out that the 'line' was for the RCI 'shuttle'..!
NOTE: Cabs are available for almost the same price if you walk to the left and request a taxi...:p AVOID the shuttles if at all possible...

Anyhow, we walked directly to the bus, and were met by our guide... We had to wait to fill the bus, as there was also another full bus, which I think did the tour in reverse... (boat first, then Altos de Chavon) Not backwards...!

We had a nice relaxing ride to the 'man-made' town, and spent a lot of time exploring, after our guide gave us a good bit of information while doing a short 'walking tour'..NOTE: The Mariachi Band playing in the Ampitheatre were very pushy and rude trying to get tips.. IGNORE them!! We were then escorted to the bus, and rode down to the river to board the ferry... (The 400 steps down/up the hill are no longer an issue!:D )

The 'Riverboat' tour was not the greatest, scenery wise, but they 'kept us in FREE rum & cokes and beer', so it was a nice trip... The crew even managed to dance with some of the passengers.. They were hoping for tips on our departure from the ferry, but were not pushy or demanding..
They showed some class...!!!

Bus ride back was nice, and the guide was quite informative again... We had a short time to shop at the small store at the pier, and returned to the ship, within an hour of departure... For $62.00 pp we were happy with the tour.. Not the best we've ever had, but we were content with it, and would be more than willing to recommend it to anyone interested in this type of excursion!..:)
